South Africa: Makuya Communal Area
The Hunting Report has been following the first hunting season in a newly opened area bordering Krueger National Park. In the northeast corner of the Limpopo Province, the Makuya area opened this past August and has produced buffalo averaging 44 inches and some good elephant, in addition to a 70- and 80-pounder taken only recently. The concession is unfenced and the hunting completely free-range, with only the Levuvhu River separating Makuya from Krueger Park.
Below are photographs of some of the trophies taken this season. We hope to have photos of the two big jumbo soon. The Makuya area is represented by Limpopo Travel (www.limpopo-travel.dk). See the July and December 2008 issues of The Hunting Report for more information on this area.
