African Lion Hunting Crisis
If you hunt African lions, or hope to do so in the future, be aware that this species is in danger of being up listed to CITES Appendix I at the next CITES meeting in 2010. The listing was averted when Kenya proposed it at the last meeting in 2004 only because the African lion range nations agreed to hold regional workshops aimed at developing scientifically-based lion conservation strategies and management plans throughout Africa. While some progress has been made, there is still much work to be completed before the January 2010 CITES meeting. The following items will give you the status of the situation and how you can help save the African lion and lion hunting.
