A Turnaround For Congo Safaris
Hunting Report subscribers know all about the disappointing first safaris conducted in August 2011 in Congo Brazzaville. (See Article ID 2708 in our online database.) We also reported to them how the Director of Wildlife and Protected Areas of Congo Claude Etienne Massimba met with Hunting Report Editor Barbara Crown at the 2012 SCI convention in Las Vegas to address some of the problems hunters reported. Massimba promised Crown that the issues had either been resolved or soon would be. It appears that is the case, as hunters are returning from Congo this spring with very positive reports. You can read what well-known hunting personality Jim Shockey reported on his hunt in the August issue of The Hunting Report. That story also includes an update on what Congo Safaris, the company operating these hunts, has accomplished since our previous report.
Below, is a collection of photos sent to us by Congo Safaris showing their operation and camp, the concession, trophies taken by clients this season and game on the hoof. We are posting them here as a supplement to our August 2012 report with Congo Safaris' permission:
