CITES Permit Form Requirements
Due to highly stringent paperwork requirements implemented by the US Fish & Wildlife Service in September 2007, CITES permit forms must be completely and correctly filled out or the shipments they accompany will be returned or seized. Fish & Wildlife will no longer overlook clerical errors or simple omissions. This is especially so regarding the Block 14 section of the CITES form. A number of trophies were refused clearance recently because this part of the form was left blank.
To help the hunting community get authorities in range nations focused on solving this problem, we have secured a sample of the CITES Permit Form, instructions on how to properly fill it out and a sample of a properly filled out form. Hunters, operators, shippers and taxidermists in range nations are urged to print out these forms and use them as a guide for everyone involved in the trophy shipment process.
