Nepal Sheep and Tahr Survey
Editor Note: Hunting Report subscribers know that the country of Nepal recently re-opened to hunting after a decade-long closure only to be put on hold again early this spring. The reason was that the Department of National Parks & Wildlife Conservation decided not to issue hunting licenses until a game population survey could be conducted. The survey was completed this summer and shows that blue sheep and Himalayan tahr are in great shape. You can read all the results yourself and recommendations for hunting quotas in each hunting concession in the report below. Special thanks to Nepal outfitter Mahesh Busnyat of Himalayan Safaris (Tel. 011-977-1-4-410551. E-mail: safaris@wlink.com.np) and booking agent Jeff Neal (Tel. 918-299-3580. Web: www.jeffcnealinc.com) for forwarding the report and news on hunting developments in this country.
