Limits On The Transshipment of Firearms
British Airways is authorized by certain transshipment licenses to carry sporting weapons (SWP) and in some instances munitions of war (MUW) when used for sporting purposes (i.e. .50 caliber hunting rifles). The rules, however, have changed. As of January 2009, British Airways says you are longer permitted to carry MUW's to certain countries, including hunting destinations such as Tanzania and Mongolia.
Below is the complete list of countries as sent to us by British Airways Security in London.
Countries To Which You Cannot Transship Any Firearms
Passengers are not permitted to transit through the UK with checked baggage containing sporting guns to the following destinations with immediate effect:
Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan
Bosnia/Herzegovina, Burundi
China (Inc. Macau), Croatia,
Democratic Republic of Congo
Eritrea, Ethiopia
Indonesia, Iran, Iraq
Liberia, Libya
Macedonia (FYR), Myanmar
Nepal, Nigeria
Rwanda
Serbia and Montenegro, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria
Uzbekistan

Passengers are not permitted to transit through the UK with checked baggage containing munitions of war to the following destinations with immediate effect - (click for list of those firearms regarded as MUW's).
