Spending time with Mrs. Vidale in camp and the seriously great job done by our PH Stephen Henderson. The tracking skills of our tracker, Game Scout & Stephen to track the four dugga boys for nearly 5 hours, getting the sticks set up in time for a one shot 200 yard kill. |

A large enough rifle for the job. I shot a custom .416 Ruger, did a lot of practice. Get a rifle that fits you and learn to use it. Found a GPS great to mark the spots of our kill for Google Earth. |

Have always found Zambia a safe destination, easy to get to, the people friendly and English is the official language. The biggest problem was the elephants, they were like a rash everywhere. We looked for elephants nearly as much as we did game was also seriously in abundance. Used a Custom .416 Ruger rifle with a 3.5 X 15 - 50mm Nightforce Scope which worked seriously well. Used custom loads and Barnes 400 Grain TSX bullets. Everything was a one shot kill.

Fico and his PHs were fantastic, serious about their profession, fluent in the history of the area and the hunting profession, it was inspirational to be around such passionate hunters. Stalking small groups of old buffalo bulls in the heavy bush was our goal and we did it every day. Close contact with elephants every day. Lion and leopard sign was plentiful. All plains game was plentiful. While I chose a limited bag others in group shot full bag of quality trophies, with large (15foot) croc and large hippo. Beautiful photos of abundant wildlife was a treat. |

Camp is remote, but quality accomodations. Wives were comfortable with the accommodations. In the mopane forests the flies can be bad...we successfully pre-treated our clothing and used Cactus Juice and Deet. Some took bug nets too. |

Incredible experience, everything that I had hoped for in my first Cape Buffalo hunt. Lots of old bulls. Quality hunting experience with variety of landscape and game available. As mentioned above, Fico and his PHs are the real deal, passionate about their profession and experience to back up their position. Dinner conversation challenges the best hunting action books you have ever read. We are going back soon!

No one in our group wanted for anything. It is impossible to describe the amount of game. How great the camp, PH's, trackers, game ranger. Pick up and delivery. Mr. Vidale organizes you from A to Z and with a smile. If you have a layover in Lusaka go to the Lusaka Flying club for a great lunch and good drinks. |

Fredrico Vidale operates a ***** operation in the real African bush. There were four of us shooting at his camp. Each had his own PH and each was in every respect a TRUE professional. The food was better than meals we have had in the London Ritz and did not have to wear a tie to eat it. Each and every gun managed with ease to bag everything for which they came. The area is so large that we only heard one distant shot the entire time. I used a .416 Taylor with 400 gr Barnes TSX & Solids. Everything was a one shot kill with the exception of the buffalo. My shooting sticks slipped as I shot and it ended up in a 1 1/2 hour follow up until dark and 3 1/2 hours the next day but the trackers did a magnificent job and a 30 yard shot between the eyes with a solid ended the job. A blind frog could go there and if he could point a gun in safety have a wonderful shoot. Anyone who wants a real Safari please contact us as we seriously could not recommend anyone better than Mr. Vidale.

Taking all of the trophies that I sought - couldn't ask for more. Shot the wrong hippo but it was a genuine mistake by the guide, but other than this, was delighted with all of the trophies. Saw lion and elephant on a regular basis. PH was great fun, with lots of interesting stories. |

I saw at least 250 elephants and many legal bulls. I encountered three different large herds of cape buffalo. There were also small groups of old bulls. We had one male lion come to a bait twice, but not while I was in the blind. There seemed to be several lions and leopards around, but with all the plains game animals calving, there was not much hope of getting them on the bait. Overall, the game populations were good. |

Being able to complete my Big 5 with the elephant, and getting up close and personal (within 25 yards) of at least two dozen different elephants. Also my PH, Dylan Cloete, was only 26 years old but had the experience of a much older man. It was so refreshing to see such a young man with such depth. He began hunting as a child in Zimbabwe and guiding safaris at 18 years old. |

They don't allow to travel with ammunition. We had a permit from the airline and from Dutch customs, but the airline decided in the airport to allow the guns but not the ammunition. Fico solved in tanzania, but it was a terrible problem. We will sue the airline. Please tell hunters not to take KLM. It's not a friendly airline for hunters. Coming back, they charged 40 euros per kilo extra weight, and they asked us for 40 kg. We have less than 20, and there was no way to claim. If you want to fly, you must pay was all the explanation. |

Hunted seven days, saw no buffalo the first two days, then saw probably 1,000 over the next five days. Bagged one old "dugga boy" and one younger bull with better drop and spread, weaker boss. Fico and Heather put together a package including 7 days and one buffalo for $8,000. The Selous is wonderful. Wildest, most remote place I've ever been. Will definitely return. You can also take zebra, warthog, hartebeest on the seven day license, but we had taken all in Namibia so decided to keep the trophy fees down. |

Roan is a hard animal to hunt, but since we got the leopard on the third day we were able to go up in the mountains and go after one. Stalking a herd of eland and picking out the big bull (patience was needed but it paid off, thank you Fico). |

Fico is great to hunt with. I took a 70 pound (both sides were 70 pounds each) elephant last year with him in Tanzania. He hunts and that is what I want in a safari. |
