We saw great trophies every day (even if we couldn't get to them).

I had planned on writing a hunting report immediately upon my return from the hunt but life got in the way...Until I saw the report from Mr. Gallup (published in Vol. 31 No. 9)... I, obviously, wasn't there for his hunt and can't speak to his experience (perhaps he didn't know what he was getting into when he booked a high-fence hunt, or the weather was bad, or he just doesn't know how to tell a PH "no" when he doesn't want to take the animal presented), but I can tell you that my experience was 180 degrees from his. Brian, Christoph, Clem, Anton, and EVERYONE ELSE associated with Two Waters treated me (and the rest of my group) with respect and professionalism and I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for a fantastic hunt on the Eastern Cape of South Africa. I can't wait to go back!

Major Game Animals Taken: Game Sought But Not Taken: Game Condition Comments: Very poor hunting program. Long drives on the highway to fenced off shooting pastures. Hours on the road. Game in these shooting pastures was poor to good depending on where the PH took us. The PH was self serving, always pushing to shoot more. Smoked. It was all about him. We have hunted with excellent outfitters before and after this experience and know a bad operation when we see it.

Problems of Hunt: Very bad hunting program. Long driving distances to hunting pastures. PH was self serving, pushy, annoying smoker. Too much radio in the cluttered hunting truck. I regret not calling a stop to the whole hunt and going back to Port Elizabeth. Highlights of Hunt: Saw wonderful country. This part of the Great Karroo is near Graaff-Reinet (Hollywood movie: Red Dust) and Addo Elephant Park. Beautiful historical country. Food and hospitality at the lodge was excellent. Staff worked hard to look after the guests. There were two separate hunting parties there at the one time. Equipment Recommendations: The country can be tough walking. Lots of rocks. I lost a few pounds that I didn't need! Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? no Why? Read above. We have hunted with much better outfitters for the same or less money. Two Waters Safari did not seem to have their own hunting land. We would drive for up to two hours on the highway to get to a fenced off pasture that may or may not have much game in it. (Would often get back to the lodge as late as 10 pm.) Some of the "Hunting/shooting lots" were over stocked and the grazing was all gone. The animals were starving. One frosty morning we went into a locked pasture, about the size of one section, and found 8 dead wildebeest that had just perished in their beds during the night. You can have a much better experience elsewhere. I hope this report saves somebody a lot of expensive regrets. There was a mix up, at the end of the hunt, over the billing. I think that the outfitter tried the "bait and switch."

I thought about filing a review on this outfitter since 2008 but never did. A friend and African hunter recently told me that it would be a service to other traveling hunters and that it needed to be done. Thank you for the opportunity to say my piece. September 19, 2011 Response from Brian Seady of Two Waters Safaris I find it strange after all these yrs that this Mr. Gallup has still not buried his axe! Mr. Gallup and his Wife were at our hunting lodge during the time frame mentioned in your email I can clearly recall as the Outfitter his comments on how he was enjoying his hunting with us! As I was not his guide and as the days progressed I always make it my duty to ask how his hunt is going and if there is anything I can do to make his experience better. His response was always that he is having a great hunt and all is great! At the end of the hunt I presented his hunting bill to him, he told me he is approximately $3,000+ short, I cannot remember the total exactly but he would place the money in my account when he gets home to Canada. Thats when all this unhappiness started with what he has mentioned in his attachment. Two years ago I wrote a report to the President of the Professional Hunters of SA (Peter Butland) explaining our position. He had listened to Mr. Gallup at Dallas Safari Club where he was expressing his displeasure etc, etc . I am sure one has to look at Two Waters Safaris track record and the reports that have been made about us to your site to realise that Mr. Gallup has simply no grounds for his outrageous outbursts. If you would like me to send you a list of recent references on us 10, 20 or 30 please let me know as I am more than willing to send for your further info. Mr. Gallup abandoned his trophies with Karoo Taxidermy, after asking us to deliver them there. He eventually paid the outstanding balance for his hunt after some time had passed. A winter rain (rare) made bow hunting difficult as vegetation was beginning to green up and animals were not coming to the water holes.
