So many elk! Every day we were in bugling elk! Nice to be able to rifle hunt during the bugling season. 3-Forks Ranch is part of the "Ranching for Wildlife" program where they can allow elk hunting during the rut. We were pinned down by large herds of cows and lesser bulls waiting to get an opportunity on the herd bull! The food at the ranch is gormet and delicious from some of the finest chefs! My guide, Frank Hatch, also made the trip very enjoyable and always had a joke and quick wit for many days of fun and laughs. |

Recommendations: |
Colorado requires hunter safety certification regardless of age. Be sure to bring certificate. |

Almost 100% success on free-ranging elk. One of the largest elk herds in the USA! We were filming for an upcoming episode of Wild Outdoor Adventures Television series and was able to get incredible footgage of elk and mule deer! |

"Ranching for Wildlife" is a unique program in Colorado to allow the property owners to manage wildlife and allow hunting during prime seasons. They will also allow some public hunters on the property with a guide during regular seasons, but must make arrangements with the Ranch Manager. Located in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Northern Colorado, this area I have been told has one of the largest elk herds in the USA outside of Yellowstone. I can believe it as we saw hundreds of elk each day and hunted different areas every day seeing many elk wherever we went! The lodge is first class and the meals are all fine dining! Truly a 5-Star elk hunting experience! Even though I was not Mule Deer hunting this time, I saw many exceptional Mule Deer. Another hunter in camp took one while I was there at 211 SCI. The 3-Forks Ranch also has the Little Snake River, one of the finest Blue Ribbon fishing streams in the USA!! The Middle Fork, North Fork and South Fork Rivers all come together as the namesake (3-Forks) and form this fantastic fishery. Many of the hunters were enjoying the fly fishing after they tagged out on their elk or mule deer. A challenging sporting clays course will humble even the best shotgunners!! Many of the hunters also enjoyed the massage therepists after they filled their tags!
