I wish to file the following report, hoping that it does come to your specific attention. I suspect that you will not like this report, as it is rather positive regarding a person whom you feel rather negative about. Obviously, I can only address my situation, but feel it imperative that I do such, as my experiences are quite contrary to what you have reported. I hunted with Tomas Garcia-Hertz of Spain Adventure for Ronda ibex from 28 December through 31 December 2003 in Spain. It was a very good hunt, top to bottom I shall detail: I began correspondence by e-mail with Mr. Garcia approximately one year ago, directly as a result of an advertisement in The Hunting Report. From the beginning, Mr. Garcia was honest and forthcoming. He responded to all my e-mails promptly and regularly, always in detail and always addressing all questions or points. I made a hunt deposit with him by wire, all accomplished smoothly. For the next several months we were in regular contact. There were no changes to the initial offers, i.e. price, dates, animals, etc. He assisted me in all necessary paperwork for guns, etc. We (my companion and my mother accompanied me) arrived at the Madrid airport the morning of December 27. We had not yet even gotten our baggage when Mr. Garcia introduced himself. He handled the gun permit process completely and smoothly and was very helpful. We then proceeded south to the hunting area in his clean, late model vehicle. The hunt cost (more economical than most other equal hunts in Spain) included lodging. We were put up in a four (or maybe five) star hotel, and fabulous food was included. He was available for everyone's every need at all times. As to hunting, Mr. Garcia and the local hunt club representative and I left the hotel each morning in time to be at the hunting area by daylight. They were very familiar with the area and both were very competent hunters. We hunted hard each day. When lesser rams were located, there was no effort to suggest that I shoot. The weather happened to be horrible every day, consisting of strong wind continuously, rain, mist, fog and it was relatively cold. At no time was it suggested that we give up. The ibex were difficult to find because of the weather, but it was evident that the game was present in good numbers. Primarily because of the weather, I did not shoot an extremely large ibex, although we were aware of two very nice rams. They simply were able to evade us adequately. Once a ram was taken, it was cared for as properly as one could ask. Upon completing the hunt, Mr. Garcia returned to Madrid and we took a three-day tourist venture. Mr. Garcia took with him my gun and the trophy head and cape. As previously arranged, on the morning of our departure, Mr. Garcia picked us up at our Madrid hotel and delivered us to the airport. He had my rifle, as well as the properly prepared head and dried cape, along with all paperwork. He helped us through the airport, only leaving as we neared boarding. Mr. Causey, in short, we had an excellent trip arranged and handled by Tomas Garcia-Hertz, and I had an excellent hunt with no shortfalls. I intend to hunt with Mr. Garcia for additional species in the future. I sincerely hope that you will take this report under you consideration, as I find Mr. Garcia to be a fine man.

Comments: |
Delta agent in Spain pulled my wife and me out of line for thorough security just because I had rifle. I protested by e-mail to Delta. I don't mind increased security, but not because of my rifle. |
