Problems of Hunt: Too much heat for moose hunt. It made that the animals not move and did not come to our call and so the hunt was difficult. Fortunately game population was abundant. Highlights of Hunt: Besides hunting in the fabolous Mackenzie Mountains, all the organization was perfect. My very experienced guide was a key for the succesful hunt and having a helicopter to move between the diferent areas is a must. Equipment Recommendations: If you contract a "mixed bag hunt" as I did, take different layers for mountain and valley hunts. Nevertheless, for crossing rivers, the outfitter provides you with waders. Game Sought But Not Taken: Caribou - Availability: Lots of other hunters saw caribou but with mountain caribou they are always on the move and I just didn't connect with any of them. Game Condition Comments: Great hunt and had good weather as well. Saw five grizzleys on the hunt and almost everyone was plagued with bear problems. The first day my guide and I had a sow and two large cubs come at us and approached within 30 yards until we finally convinced them they should leave! Other hunters in base camp took some excellent sheep with some over 40 inches.

Problems of Hunt: Highlights of Hunt: Saw lots of grizzly bears. Five in total during the hunt. Too bad the NWT doesn't allow non-resident hunters to harvest one. Even the residents are allowed one in their lifetime. Equipment Recommendations: I wore Danner boots, Sitka Gear clothing, used an Eberlestock pack which was very useful as a day bag. As with all hunts you have the opportunity to meet new people. Aside from harvesting a great ram on my hunt, making new friends with other hunters from other parts of the world was a great experience. There were other hunters in camp who filled all their tags including wolverine so it's right place and right time. I would like to go back but later in the season for caribou and moose.

Problems of Hunt: I twisted my knee early in the hunt. Highlights of Hunt: Meeting my friends Eduardo, Randy and Mike. Harvesting my ram and hunting with Werner, Sunny and Russ. Equipment Recommendations: I wore Russell sheep hunting boots (performed well). Good raingear and plenty of bug dope. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? I have been on many hunts for whitetail in Saskatchewan and other places as well as an unsuccessful sheep hunt in Alaska. Despite not getting a ram in Alaska the hunt was well run however the hunt with South Nahanni was as first class as I could have wished for. This is a well run operation that cares about you insuring you enjoy your hunt and achieve success.

Problems of Hunt: None, but it took nine days to get ram after I missed a shot in day number four. Highlights of Hunt: Beautiful country without any people. Equipment Recommendations: Good mountain climbing boots as you will use them. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? This is a fantastic trip. The outfitter legally uses a helicopter to place or relocate hunters to good areas and saves enormous amounts of time going between hunt areas. The aircraft is not used for spotting. There are lots of steep hills and climbing required. The outfitter focused on the hunter success and opportunity.

The outfitter has an incredible base camp with hot water, showers, TV, freezer, microwave and excellent food. I took this full curl ram after nine hard days of hunting many bands of rams. We stalked this ram for hours and laid in the ground face-down in the rain waiting for the right moment. GAME DESCRIPTION

Major Game Animals Taken: Caribou - Availability: Abundant - Trophy Size: I don't measure it. Moose - Availability: Abundant - Trophy Size: Game Sought But Not Taken: Game Condition Comments: The outfitter flies the hunters in areas where the game are. The flying is done with helicopters. The outfitter spends a high amount of hours to search the game by plane. This is a very well running outfit in a really remote area. The hunt is done in real wilderness and unspoiled area. The use of two helicopters in camp helps to put the hunter on the righ spot and also helps to carry out the trohies and meat. I saw a lot of very good dall sheep rams (full curls). This is a very good sheep, moose and caribou area.

Problems of Hunt: Because of weather problems, I lost two hunting days. No problem. Highlights of Hunt: The really remote area and the hunt in the true wilderness. For sure, I bagged my two trophies.
