E-mail from Dick and Sandi Fruchey to Federico Testa, February 7, 2011:

We just wanted to know what is the latest on shipping native hunting trophies from Argentina?

Are there any hunting groups or hunting outfitters working with the government on solving this problem? Is there any progress?

We look forward to your response

------

E-mail from Federico Testa to Dick and Sandi Fruchey, February 7, 2011:

The latest ones are from 2007, and yes I am working with the Fauna Ministerium to get the problem resolved!  But I think they are really slow!

If you like I can keep you informed about the progress.

------

E-mail from Dick and Sandi Fruchey to Augustin Robles, February 7, 2011:

Sandi and I missed seeing you and Lucy in Reno.  It was a good convention. It will be in Las Vegas next year.

We just wanted to know what is the latest on shipping native hunting trophies from Argentina?

Are there any hunting groups or hunting outfitters working with the government on solving this problem? Is there any progress?

We look forward to your response.

------

E-mail from Augustin Robles to Dick and Sandi Fruchey, February 7, 2011:

Lucy and me wanted to be in Reno for SCI, January in Buenos Aires feels kind of funny when you get used to traveling every year.
About the exporting of the trophies I have received no news yet from Federico Testa.  He is in constant negotiation with Direccion de Fauna silvestre (Argentinean version of fish and wildlife) to start setting up a quota for exporting. I will email him asking about this and as soon as I have any news I'll let you know

------

E-mail from Dick and Sandi Fruchey to Federico Testa, January 5, 2012:

We would like to know what is the latest on shipping native hunting trophies from Argentina?

We know that you had been working with the Argentina Fauna Ministerium to get export permits for native hunting trophies, and wondered if there is any progress.

Or is this just a lost cause and we should expect to lose our trophies?  We worry that skins, such as those from pumas, will deteriorate with time.

Our trophies include 2 puma, 2 collared peccaries and 1 gray-brown brocket deer, from our 2009 hunt and 1 capybara from our 2010 hunt.  Both of our hunts were with Jorge Robles Safaris of Argentina.

Thanks for your time and consideration.  We look forward to your response.

------

E-mail from Federico Testa to Dick and Sandi Fruchey, January 6, 2012:

Yes, I get some CITES for natives, we're still working on that, but I think there is a real delay with this matter.  I know that the Argentine government is issuing a new native law, I don't know when it will be ready, but this will help us in finishing all the pending natives. I know you are worried about the skins, but they are at the taxidermist and he takes all the proper care to preserve them!  I can't give you a date, but we are still working to get more documents.

I will keep you informed!  And I will do my best to ship yours, that's a promise!

------

E-mail from Lucy Robles to Dick and Sandi Fruchey, January 6, 2012:

How nice to hear from you!  When we received your Christmas card we very much appreciated your thinking about us.  Now we are on holiday. The temperature in Argentina is 37C, extremely hot. Unfortunately once again we are not exhibiting at the next SCI convention. I will contact Federica Testa from Logistic Solution and if there is any news concerning the natives I'll let you know.

------

E-mail from Dick and Sandy Fruchey to Mike Willey, February 19, 2012:

We were very satisfied with all aspects of both our trips with Robles Safaris. We got all the animals that we went after and the trophy quality was generally very good. Accomodations and food were quite good and we enjoyed our stay in Buenos Aires - good shopping and the Tango Dancing shows were great. The Robles were good hosts. The only downside is that due to government holdups, we have yet to receive our native trophies due to the lack of export permits.  We don't know if we will ever get them.  These animals include puma, brocket deer, capybara and collared peccary.  We have received all of the exotic (non-native) animals with no trouble.  These include water buffalo, axis deer, fallow deer, red deer, wild boar, hybrid sheep, feral goat, multi-horned sheep, and blackbuck.

------

E-mail from Augustin Robles to Dick and Sandi Fruchey, February 22, 2012:

How's everything?  Hope that all is well and you are enjoying many hunts together.

Thanks for the feedback on your hunt!  I'm pretty sure this will give him a good impression of our operation.

I'm talking to Federico Testa from Logistic Solution back and forth trying to figure out how to get the native animals exported.  We should have some news in the next few months.  I'll e-mail if anything is needed from your side.

Thank you!

------

E-mail from Dick and Sandi Fruchey to Federico Testa, February 25, 2014:

Hello Federico,

As you know, Sandi and I hunted Argentina in March, 2009 and again in August, 2010, taking a total of 22 trophies between us. These included 16 non-indigenous animals and six native animals, including (2) puma, (2) collared peccary, (1) gray-brown brocket deer and (1) capybara. We booked our hunts at the Safari Club Conventions, with Jorge A. Robles Safaris in Argentina, operated by Lucy Detry de Robles and Agustin Inchsusti Robles, of Buenos Aires. The hunts were well-run and were very successful.

Robles SAfaris transferred the trophies to you (Mr. Federico Testa) at Logistic - Solution S.R.L., Moreno 442 Piso l-C.A.B.A. - Argentina, for shipment to Coppersmith in the U. S.

We subsequently received two shipments of horns, antlers and capes, covering all of the non-indigenous animals.

We had previously been advised by Robles that the Argentina Government was slow in issuing permits for Native animals. On February 7, 2011, Agustin Robles advised us that you were in constant negotiation with Direccioc de Fauna Silvestre (Argentinean version of Fish and Wildlife) to start setting-up a quota for exporting.

We have had subsequent contacts with you and with Agustin and your responses have been that you are still working with the Fauna Ministerum to get the problem solved, but things are very slow. Further, that you are getting some CITES Permits for Native Game and that the Argentina Government is issuing a new native game law. And further that you are still working to get more documentation and not to worry about the trophies as they are being properly cared for at the Taxidermist. And finally, that you would keep us informed (that was in 2012)!

It is now 2014 and we have not been kept informed! So it is time to give us an honest appraisal of the situation. Are we ever going to get our Native Trophies or is this situation just going to string-out till we become fatigued? And even if you should get export permits, what kind of condition will the trophies be in?

We look forward to your response!

Dick and Sandi Fruchey

 ------

E-mail from Dick and Sandi Fruchey to Federico Testa, October 5, 2014:

Hello Federico, Well, here it is some seven months since I last heard from you, concerning our Native Game Trophies, stored at your facility, in Argentina. Imagine that! To reiterate, Sandi & I hunted in Argentina in March, 2009, and again in August, 2010, with Jorge A. Robles Safaris of Buenos Aires, operated by Lucy Detry de Robles & Agustin Inchausti Robles. Bookings were at the SCI Conventions. The safaris were excellent and we took 16 non-indigenous animals and six native animals including two puma, two collared peccary, one gray-brown brocket deer and one capybara, which were transferred to you at Logistic-Solution S.R.L., Moreno 442 Piso I-C.A.B.A. -Argentina, for shipment to Coppersmith in the U.S. We subsequently received all of the non-indigenous trophies. We had been advised by Robles that the Argentine Government was slow in issuing permits for the native animals. On February 7, 2011, Agustin Robles advised us that you were in constant contact /negotiation with Direccioc de Fauna Silvestre to start setting up quotas for export. Over the last four (4) years , the answer to our questions has always been pretty much the same namely that you are still working with the Fauna Ministerum, that the Argentine Government is issuing new native game laws, that they are slow, and so forth. We have not been kept informed, so we ask again REALISTICLY, ARE WE EVER GOING TO GET OUR TROPHIES? Or, is this just going to string-out until we become fatigued? After four years, can you make a special request to the Fauna Ministerum for export of our trophies? WE WANT YOUR ANSWER TO THESE QUESTIONS! We are copying this e-mail to The Hunting Report, as well as Safari Club International, as we expect that we are not the only hunters faced with this problem! How can Outfitters sell native game hunts, if they can not get export permits for the trophies? We look forward to your response! Dick and Sandi Fruchey
