Air France flights were very good. No baggage issues. Due to changes in the Air France schedule, I used a travel agent, travelwithguns.com run by Steve Turner. Steve Turner was incredibly helpful in making all arrangements, providing detailed itineraries, etc. Though I previously made travel arrangements on my own, I will definitely use Travel With Guns again! |

SUMMARY
REMARKS |
 |
| Problems
of Hunt: |
None. From the arrival in Bangui through departure, Jacques had the entire hunt well organized and orchestrated. Jacques uses multiple camps and rotates between them and actually rests different areas for a year or two at a time. |
| Highlights
of Hunt: |
Jacques is passionate about bongo hunting and the C.A.R. in general. Having the opportunity to pursue and take a great bongo fulfilled a long-term dream of mine. The area is spectacular and Jacques encourages direct interaction with the local villages which greatly enhances the hunt. |
| Equipment
Recommendations: |
Extremely hot & humid/wet weather so coordinate with Jacques to ensure you bring the appropriate clothing and gear. |
| Would You
Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? |
yes |
| Why? |
As described above, Jacques is passionate about hunting bongo or more precisely hunting BIG bongo. He manages his area carefully and has been delivering outstanding results for a number of years. |

Jacques came highly recommended to me for bongo and it is easy to see why. He's absolutely focused on providing hunters with the best opportunity to hunt big bongo. Jacques has outstanding hunting areas and carefully monitors and manages his hunts to ensure long-term success. In fact, he still has large areas that he hasn't even hunted. His team, from trackers to camp staff, is skilled and helpful. Jacques employs a significant number of local villagers and also employs a couple of incredibly skilled Pygmy trackers from the Bayanga area. This is completely fair chase. While Jacques does employ dogs, his preference is to use only one or at most two small dogs. The dogs worked in conjunction with the trackers to alert us to the bongo's presence. But by no means was this some pack of dogs baying a bongo. In fact, we heard exactly one bark that alerted us to the bongo's presence. Extremely sporting and challenging hunt. The area is beautiful. There was no evidence of snares or commercial poaching. Camps are basic, but comfortable. Tents under thatched roofs, hot showers, daily laundry, food was good and plentiful with an emphasis on game. Jacques' goal is to find the next world record bongo and he uses that goal as motivation for himself and his staff. He has a tremedous hunting area with great genetics and he's being very careful not to over hunt any one area. Jacques is completely committed to hunting in the C.A.R. He has a very long history of hunting in that country and it's the entire focus of his business. He went to great lengths to forge strong and productive relationships with the local villagers. There was ample evidence of plenty of other game. In fact, a hunter in a different camp with a different PH was unsuccessful for bongo, but took 10 different species in the area. So there are definitely good opportunities for other animals especially duikers.

It was probably my best experience in Africa. PH Jacques Lemaux, great hunter, great man. Bong hunting done on foot with the Pygmy's is incredible. Yellow backed duiker is hunted along the borders of the forest in the morning or in the evening by meeting or by calling. In the area can also be hunted: giant forest hog, forest sitatunga and leopards. The numerous open savannahs allow you to cover quite long distances by car and let you check different salt marshes in a day.
