I'd say overall condition of game in the area was excellent. Only downer was the elephant poaching. From speaking with hunters this year who hunted other concessions, seems to be a widespread problem in the Selous, not only in this area. |

Used Steve Turner as our agent. Recommended stop over for a few days in Istanbul. It was an EXCELLENT choice. Very firearms friendly, reps from Shikar Safaris took care of everything. Perfect place to wind down, eat good food (prices very reasonable), see some amazing sites, and most importantly start the jet-lag recovery (same time zone as Tanzania). Also highly recommend Turkish Airline's new Comfort Class seating. |

of Hunt: |
Not really a problem, but the grass was VERY high. Easily 8-9ft in many places. This made for some great buffalo hunting though, we were able to get VERY close every time. It does limit you with plains game, but there were enough burned areas that we took almost all the plains game available in the area regardless. Large elephants have been hit hard all across the Selous. Nothing to do with the outfitter, but still worth noting. Hopefully it gets turned around. Also had a problem with my talley rings on my CZ/AHR .416 Rigby. The rings failed at some point during the hunt, and we only caught the problem on day 10. At that point the gun was way off. glad we had not show lion or elephant with the gun. Did loose buffalo because of a bad shot, and we are confident the rings were to blame. Always take an extra scope and rings on this type of trip! also practice with your back-up rifle as much as your primary and make sure triggers are set to similar weights! |

of Hunt: |
Camp is right on the river, hippos, crocs, and lots of other animals all around the river daily. Having 5-6 leopards on bait during the hunt. See two lionesses take down a zebra right in front of our eyes. Seeing hundreds of buffalo and hunting them thru the thick grass. Coming back to camp knowing you are going to have an amazing meal awaiting, and comfortable beds to plop down on. almost all animals were of top notch quality, and amazing hunt all around. |

for the flies take Avon's Skin So Soft products. only thing that works. Its cheap too. the packets of wipes work great. One pack contains two large soaked towels, rip them up and pass them around the truck. The trackers will thank you for it! also they have a spray on sun-screen that has the same stuff in it, two birds... |

Excellent operation all-around. Pierre and son Clinton are top notch. Equipment is well maintained and new vehicles bought every year. My kind of thinking... Staff is top notch, and fun to be around. Food is amazing, and not like "in the bush amazing" amazing in a way that would rival any fancy restaurant. You will not be disappointed. |

All around amazing hunt. Pierre is moving blocks next year so keep in mind this info is relevant to block R2. With that said, I can't imagine that anyone would have a bad hunt with him no matter where he goes. Lots of joking and laughter on a daily basis, but no nonsense when it comes down to business and his job as a PH. I would highly recommend hunting with him or his son Clinton in whatever concession they have available in the future.
