SUMMARY REMARKS
Problems of Hunt: We worked really hard to find buffalo. They were just not in the concession. The last day we saw them on the Botswana side of the river. the week after we left they had moved back into the concession. This was no fault of the hunting outfit. It just happens to be the result of changes in the wind, concession position among parks, and late rains making it wetter than usual with a lot of vegetation still present. It is hunting afterall.
Highlights of Hunt: The elephant was the best. We had been in elephants for several days. On that morning we got on tracks early. It was an old bull that once we had caught up to, came surging up to us. My first frontal brain shot was a little high but the second was a perfect side brain shot. Nice to have a Krieghoff 470 double. This was my first African animal and I won't ever forget it. I shot a very large red hartebeest after a stalk through the hills. I used the double 30-06 barrels for the Krieghoff. My son shot an excellent Kudu with his Sako 270. It was an excellent shot.
Equipment Recommendations: I would highly recommend the SAAM shooting course at the FTW ranch in Barksdale, TX (www.ftwoutfitters.com). We definitely got comfortable shooting at a little further distance which enabled us to take some game in some open areas we would not otherwise had been able to do.
Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? yes
Why? There was a lot of game with a very professionally run outfit.

ADDITIONAL HUNTER COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
I took my father, wife , and two sons. They all had a great time, and we were accommodated very well. It is really a great safe place to take your whole family. Only one of my sons is a hunter, but the other wanted to hunt. They had a great range, and one of the PH apprentices took him for a day to shoot. The next day he shot a Blesbok. They really went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. We wanted to see rhino. So, they took us to a private ranch where we were able to see a lot of them. The Caprivi is a real hunting experience. The camp is tented on concrete slabs right on the water. You drive parts of the concession and you take a boat to hunt the other parts including some of the river islands. It was very exciting. We took the elephant. Burchell's zebra, impala, and a wildebeest in this area. The main lodge close to Windhoek is on a very large ranch with several other adjoining ranches also used for hunting. The lodge sits on a hill overlooking the west side of the ranch for gorgeous sunsets. The accommodations are extremely nice. This area is mostly hilly terrain and fairly open with an elevation of around 6000feet. The game is very abundant. We took a Hartmann's zebra, red hartebeest, warthog, impala, two wildebeest, blesbok, and a kudu. we saw some very nice waterbuck. At Schonbrunn which is a couple of hours south, we got to see red sand dunes. The lodge was a an old farmhouse of the outfit's father. It was a very comfortable place. The hunt here is very flat with a few rolling hills. The ground is very rocky. The shots were long here. We took two gemsbok, both of which were very old bulls. We also took six springbok, and a warthog. We missed on a hartebeest. This was our first safari. I had some anxiety over bringing the family, but it was a very family friendly environment. Our PH, Uys, was great. He took exceptional care of us. All in all, the safari exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Best crew I have ever been around. They never tire of making sure that their clients are as comfortable as they can be. Great vehicles along with a very good knowledge of the country and peoples. Remember to take a notebook with you so you can remember the small things later. I would be proud to recommend this outfit to anyone planning to go to Africa on a safari.

SUMMARY REMARKS
Problems of Hunt: Only issue is that I have pretty much taken everything I have been looking for and need to start the Big 5/Dangerous 7 a second time!
Highlights of Hunt: Watching a massive, heavy and balanced 70-pounder cross Kwando River from Botswana into our Namibia concession. Stalking him for 3+ hours. Having my PHs, Brian Suddaby (Harloo) & Pieter de Lange (Omujeve), put me in the right place at the right time for an 18-yard side brain shot on a small island. Seeing, by chance, a 41-1/2", free range, Caprivi sable bull with 9-1/2 inch bases. While I had not intended to hunt sable, when Pieter and Brian said "you NEED to take this", well, I could not pass it up. Taking a great 39-1/2" eland bull after a 2-hour stalk. Hunting with a past PH friend, Brian Suddaby, and making a new PH friend, Pieter de Lange.
Equipment Recommendations: Heavy calibre rifle.
Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? yes
Why? ABSOLUTELY. With the closing of Botswana and the opportunity to hunt elephant on the Okavango, Omujeve's Caprivi camp provides a classic opportunity to cover area by boat and by vehicle. Their concession is bordered to the south by the Kwando River which forms the boundary with Botswana & Namibia. The elephant cross with no hesitation. As mentioned, we saw about 1200+ elephant in 4-1/2 days of hunting. Yes, I took a 70-pounder in 4.5 days. While it is "hunting" and there are no guarantees, it is a "numbers game". Seeing so many elephant is part of the "numbers."

Physical Condition: Excellent. I lost 90+ lbs to do a hike for 105 miles with my son at Philmont High Adventure Camp the month prior to this adventure. With this training, I was able to hold my own in Namibia in the sand, heat and high altitude (>4,000')

Being my first African safari I did a lot of research in selecting who I was going to hunt with and Omujeve came out on top. Every aspect of their organization and staff were beyond reproach, and they worked extremely hard to ensure my hunt was a success and that I enjoyed myself. I realize those reading this review will attribute some of the high praise to the fact that this was my first Safari, and that may be a factor. However, one need only look at their client list (Craig Boddington, Ruger CEO Michael Fifer, Larry Weishuhn, etc) to see that others with considerable African experience also choose Omujeve. I cannot recommend them enough!

We spent three days hunting on a concession on the edge of the Kalahari staying in a tented camp. This is a magical place and I would recommend anyone going to Omujeve to stay there for at least one night. The PH Braam Visser is a first class hunter and worked extremely hard for us at all times, he also has a tremendous sense of humor. There are plenty of jackals and baboons to also make an entertaining diversion for hunting hard on foot. If you have yet to visit Namibia, you really need to do it soon. I cannot recommend Omujeve Safaris highly enough, as the people to hunt with. This safari was a fathers 21st birthday present to his only son. I would not have entrusted such a special time to any other safari company.

ADDITIONAL HUNTER COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
My name is Paula LeForce. My husband, Benjamin, has written and called you in the past. He respects your advice and enjoys the Hunting Report. We recently traveled to North Central Namibia on a hunting and sightseeing trip. This story requires a little back ground information so please bear with me.

I am over fifty and my entire life has been in an urban environment. Hunting and firearms were not part of my activities. Having polio as a child left me paralyzed from the neck down. I eventually regained some mobility, but assumed that many outdoor activities were beyond my reach. My life was about to make a major change when we married about two and a half years ago.

Ben moved me from the city to the country and immediately introduced me to target shooting with a 22 pistol and rifle which I found fascinating. A few months after we married we went to Victoria Falls for a honeymoon and two weeks of hunting and sightseeing. My family back at home in Oklahoma just knew I would be carried off by animals or headhunters. What a trip it was. I fell in love with Africa and will never forget those days.

Sometime later Ben asked me if I would like to hunt something. Since I can't walk on uneven ground or climb he found a place where you can shoot from the hunting vehicle. It would not be easy as the animals there flee at sight of a stopping vehicle. We spent many days that winter practicing with a 30-06 to prepare for the hunt.

We arrived at Omujeve Safari's hunting lodge in the hills of North Central Namibia on the 17th of May 2003. What a greeting. An African hunting camp with electricity, normal beds, and first class rooms. Omujeve is about Denver altitude with very low humidity, cool nights and mild days year round. Perfect hunting weather. The Omujeve staff was quite friendly and tended to our every need.

The next morning we were off in search of trophy quality Blesbok. Each time I managed to get one in my sights it would move, or another would step in front or behind. I had never experienced anything quite like this before and each time they would escape my sights the frustration and excitement grew like crazy. Just as I was about ready to throw in the towel we ran in to a bachelor group of nice trophies. I picked one out and Blam. Where did he go. The guys all started yelling, he's down. I could hardly believe it. I actually took my first game animal and in Africa at that. Later that day Ben took an excellent Gemsbok. The next day Ben scored again with a record book hartebeest and I shot my second animal, a nice springbok which looks like it will also get into the record book.

What a time we had. Four animals between us that made the Namibian record book. All four earning medals. The springbok and the hartebeest will probably make the SCI record book as well. Each evening at the lodge was a celebration for each game taken.

Omujeve has a great selection of game including: Greater kudu, red hartebeest, and gemsbok. They may have a high perimeter fence but the animals are truly wild and run free. Some shots become quite difficult. 100 to 300 yard shots are common, so practice your 200 to 300 yard shooting ahead of time. We did not shoot a large number of game but that is not your style. We like to mix sightseeing with our hunting trips.

"Thanks" is a small word with a big meaning. I would like to say thanks to the staff of Omujeve for being such gracious hosts and accommodating my special needs. I would also like to say thanks to my husband, Ben. He nurtured something in me that I had lost over the years- that behind us are all the challenges we have conquered, and before us lie new horizons filled with endless possibilities. He taught me that life is an adventure, that I can truly enjoy, and from now on I will seize each moment and make it my own.
