ADDITIONAL HUNTER COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
Rebuttal from Vance Corrigan of The Hunting Consultants.

The report of the Marco Polo hunt of Alden Glidden, conducted by Vladimir Treshchov, was mostly an accurate rendition of the events that took place during the hunt. Alden and two friends from Oregon hunted together. The preceding hunters stayed an extra five days and the local outfitter put our hunters in a mud brick hut with inadequate heat and poor food for the first five days. Alden also states that they were told they would hunt an area that had not been hunted previously. I believe this is correct. Alden states they hunted an area that had previously been hunted. This is true. The local outfitter claims that they scouted the unhunted area and saw less sheep and small rams than in the area the previous hunters had been. This claim is impossible to evaluate. On the positive side, he states he saw over 100 sheep each day and shot an excellent trophy, a heavy 56 X 56 inch ram. He states the sheep were spooky and hard to approach. This is an accurate evaluation. He states a hunter should be in good shape and work hard to be successful. This is true. Overall, I believe his hunt was above average. You will see in his note to me he says "All's well that ends well. Thanks for another great hunt, Alden".

For the last thirteen years I have been arranging sheep hunts in the C.I.S. through Vladimir Treshchov of National Hunting Service. This past year I arranged 22 sheep hunts in various parts of the C.I.S., including Alden's hunt, and no one came back without a ram. Those considering hunting Marco Polo should be aware of the recurring problems that often take place on these hunts. The most serious of these is offering to find the hunter an exceptional ram if they come up with a few extra thousand dollars. Or, when they see a very big ram, not being allowed to shoot it because it's being reserved for another hunter who's paying more. Other problems are encountered; too many hunters in the camp, not having proper documents, not having access to a good area to name a few. Under the circumstances and considering this part of the world, I am glad that all three of Alden's group took excellent rams.
