Major Game Animals Taken: Ibex, Siberian - Availability: Scarce - Trophy Size: 40 inches by 11 inches

Game Condition Comments: We didn't see a ton of Ibex I roughly saw twenty. I harvested a big billy in the end so I was happy. We also saw a couple of wolves, camels, fox and my hunting partner was able to see a Snow Leopard.

SUMMARY REMARKS
Problems of Hunt: This was my first international hunt so not being able to communicate with my guide as I would in the U.S. was a bit different. My interpreter was able to clear most things up so I could be on the same page as the guide.
Highlights of Hunt: The highlight of this hunt for me was getting away from civilization and hunting an animal that's isolated to such a location, it's a true adventure.

Game Condition Comments: The first area we hunted in was extremely difficult due to the fact we didn't see the old rams. We moved to another area during the hunt and immediately began finding mature rams. I roughly saw one hundred sheep on the hunt. The ibex were plentiful it only took us a day to hunt the ibex.

SUMMARY REMARKS
Problems of Hunt: It was disappointing spending four days without seeing a trophy ram but they had a backup area that produced so in the end it was fine.
Highlights of Hunt: Having my son alongside me as we experienced Mongolia and it's people.
Equipment Recommendations: Make sure you have a sleeping pad and Mountain House dinners if you choose not to eat the local food. My son thought the food was amazing though.

Why? Its both a great hunt and cultural experience.

Game Condition Comments: The Altai area was plentiful with Siberian Ibex we saw over 200 animals and the Gobi had good numbers I estimate we saw roughly 65 Ibex.

SUMMARY REMARKS
Problems of Hunt: We had some minor issues with the way the ears and tails were prepped but it wasn't anything major. No capes were ruined. Clark and the team at Safari Outfitters know their stuff, which eliminates many of the problems that could occur.
Highlights of Hunt: The highlight of this hunt is the overall experience of Mongolia. From the super friendly people to the hard working team of guides and interpreters, they really make it a neat experience.
Equipment Recommendations: The guides have amazing eyesight but it is a good idea to bring an extra pair of binoculars as theirs can be of poor quality. A spare headlamp is also a good item to pack.

Major Game Animals Taken: Argali - Availability: Abundant - Trophy Size: Gobi argali. Excellent.
Game Sought But Not Taken: Ibex - Availability: Had opportunity but found out later gun had been dropped and was 24 inches off.
Game Condition Comments: Argali sheep were seen daily of trophy size and quality. Ibex quality and numbers were not as abundant. Literally hunted ibex just outside of a village of 5,000 people.

Problems of Hunt: Communication, guides know no English, food is poor.
Highlights of Hunt: Seeing many argali sheep every day. Was dissappointed hunting ibex literally just outside a village. Travel conditions very tiring.

Greg clearly states his expectations were too high for this hunt, since the typical ram taken from the High Altai in recent years is 55 inches or less.
