Varmint - Availability: Scarce - Trophy Size: Blackbacked jackal. Very nice. Game Sought But Not Taken: Game Condition Comments: I took everything I wanted in three days. Most enjoyable, successful hunt I have been on for years, due in large part to a most interesting PH, Glen Munger, and the beauty and bounty of the Okavango.

I went to the rear of the plane to visit my sister and brother in law and was shocked at the deplorable conditions. I will never fly on South African Airlines. They have no regard for their passengers. I felt guilty sitting up front while hundreds of people who had paid thousands of dollars sat in the back, literally on top of one another.

Problems of Hunt: Highlights of Hunt: I am remiss in filling this report. I have been back for months and still can't believe I was fortunate enough to take a grand old Cape Buffalo on my first day in camp. My PH, Glen Munger, was not only a superb PH, but he was the most enjoyable fellow to hunt with. He knew more about flora and fauna then any PH I have ever hunted with. He was teaching me about the Okavango, Botswana, the history of the country, the people, the animals, the Okavango flood, every single day we hunted together. Given my good fortune, taking three superb animals in the first three days I was there, I would have just gone home to Wisconsin. Glen Munger had another idea. The day after my tags were filled, Glen took me fishing for Tilapia in the Okavango. What an enjoyable, beautiful day. Surrounded by hippos and colorful birds, Glen and I caught our dinner in a couple of hours of fast paced fishing. Later, Glen invited me to go home with him to his ranch near Francistown, on the other side of the country to shoot "game meat". Glen and his father and brother own a 35,000 cattle ranch and supply both beef and game meat to the local grocery stores and restaurants. For five days we toured the Munger's ranch, harvested game meat and did a little shopping along the way. Most relaxing. Finally, and sadly, it was time for me to leave Glen and his wife Sam and Botswana and return to the States. I will return to hunt with Mark Kyricacou Safaris and Glen again. This time something a bit bigger! I would rate this hunt the highest on your scale. Equipment Recommendations: Flat wedge soled light weight Russell Safari "PH" boots for walking in the sand. A wedge sol prevents foot bridge fatigue and doesn't dig into the sand, making walking much easier. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? See comments above.

Game Sought But Not Taken: Game Condition Comments: There is lots of game inspite of heavy/late rains providing drinking far from the swamp. I passed on lions as good or better than most. I found a bigger one.
