Comments: |
KLM flies direct to Kilimanjaro, so convenient to Legendary Adventures base camp. KLM service is indifferent at best (flew business class). Personnel curt, boarding policy disorganized at best, lounge in Amsterdam crowded with every imaginable partner airline and generally lousy, seats and food no better than adequate, but handling of firearms well done thanks to advance work done by excellent travel agent, Gacy Interantional. |

SUMMARY
REMARKS |
 |
| Problems
of Hunt: |
No problems worth mentioning, but be prepared for tse tse flies in Kizigo (bring Sawyer Family time release repellent--it is the only thing short of 100 percent deet we found that worked). Also, be prepared for dust in Masai areas, bring cleaning supplies for cameras, scopes and binos, including a can of compressed air. Plus, extra contacts or goggles to keep out dust if you wear them. |
| Highlights
of Hunt: |
Absolutely first class accommodations and personnel. The base camp in Arusha on a coffee plantation has to be seen to be believed. The professionalism of Andy Payne, the PH, the adrenaline or stumbling on the Lion we hunted on only the first day after we'd hung one bait, being able to share the experience with loved ones able to join me. |
| Equipment
Recommendations: |
Bring optics cleaning supplies, a can of compressed air, cleaning fluid and cloths. Bring extra contacts if you wear disposables, plus goggles that would help keep out dust. Invest in the best digital camera possible, bring a computer to display photos and a portable photo printer would make you a lot of friends. |
| Would You
Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? |
Yes |
| Why? |
Absolutely top shelf safari for someone willing to bear the expense of an old fashioned East Africa type full bag safari. |

|
These guys are top-shelf in this industry. Every aspect of their business is carefully considered to maintain and improve the habitat for game and provide the hunter with a flawless hunt. From brand new planes in their in-house air charter company (Northern Air) to a luxury base camp on a coffee plantation to begin and end from, to first class hunting area camps and staff, no detail is too small to be attended. For example, when we decided to hunt buffalo up on Monduli mountain at 9000 feet in one of their satellite camps, we came home to find hot water bottles in our beds at night. I have been blessed to be able to hunt with some of the best in the business in Africa, from Geoff and Russ Broom to Peter Chipman. The Friedkins, who run Legendary, clearly approached this as a labor of love and spared no effort or expense. They should be applauded. Andy Payne, the PH who guided us, is pretty much straight out of central casting as the unflappable PH, mixing competence ethics, and wit with the obligatory British accent. My whole party had the trip of a lifetime. If you can afford it, do it and you will never regret it.

From the moment we touched down in Arusha until we departed everything was handled professionally and was First Class..I can not say enough about the camp staff, game scouts, and of course the PH. Guy Rowe is an excellent PH and really loves hunting. He was a pleasure to be with and to share the experience with. It is my belief that had we hunted the entire 21 days we would have taken all the game we sought..but then I wouldn't have an excuse to go back and hunt again with this PH and organization.
