ADDITIONAL HUNTER COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
Rebuttal from J Koser of Koser Outfitters:

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the comments made by Darryl Southwick with respect to his hunt with us. Firstly, Mr. Southwick communicated to us at the end of his hunting trip that he was very happy with his overall experience and said we had a very good outfit and area. We are not certain why the change of attitude reflected in his hunt report as he also agreed to be placed on our reference list.

Mr. Southwick states that three guides quit during or prior to his hunt. This is not true. We had one very experienced guide tell us just prior to the season that he would not be working for us because he had been asked to manage another outfitting area which was an opportunity he didn't want to turn down. We then hired an inexperienced man which we intended to train throughout the season in order for him to guide a single hunt at the end of September for which we needed him. Unfortunately, he did not work out and did quite during Mr. Southwick's hunt. However, Peter Koser, the outfitter, guides full time and was training this employee at the time. Peter Koser was able to step in without interruption and handle the guiding of the other hunter's hunt. Therefore, there were not inexperienced guides on this hunt. There was Isaac Dueling, Mr. Southwick's guide and Peter Koser, the outfitter and guide of 40 years who guided the other hunter in this camp area. There was also a young horse wrangler along. Contrary to Mr. Southwick's opinion that we have extensive personnel problems; in general, we have a very stable staff of guides and have very few personnel problems.

Mr. Southwick's comment about the camp being messy reflects a specific - short term situation in which the camp site was left in a manner that is unacceptable to Koser Outfitters' standards on the previous hunt. When the outfitter came upon the camp in its poor condition he reprimanded the staff involved and cleaned up the campsite area immediately.

With reference to game seen and taken, Mr. Southwick took three very good trophies on his 12 day hunt. Our average is two trophies per hunter, so our success rates are high and the game must be plentiful in order for us to have these success rates. It is not simply a case of "good timing", but a good area with good management over 40 years. Mr. Southwick was one of four people who took three trophies on their 12 day hunts with us during 2006. We also had 100 percent success rate on our Fannin sheep hunts during the 2006 season, so whether Mr. Southwick saw every sheep in the country or not is irrelevant.

It is unfortunate that we are blind-sided by such a contrary report well after the hunting season is over, considering we were left with the impression in September that Mr. Southwick felt his hunt had generally gone well.

ADDITIONAL HUNTER COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
I feel that I got full value for my hunt. I could not have been happier. It is not an area where you are likely to get a 40 inch ram. But if you are looking for a top end, multi species, fair chase hunt, this is the place. This is a family business - you can tell. It is not fancy, but you have everything you need, including lots of game. I could have got a moose as well, I was looking for something exceptional after being so successful early in the hunt. I got my sheep day one, wolverine day two, bear day four and caribou day six. I was looking for a 70-inch moose (68 inch bull was killed while I was there). James, the guide evaluated the game very well - I knew exactly what I was shooting (he thought I should have shot the moose). He hunted hard and put me where I needed to be to be successful. Thanks Koser's

ADDITIONAL HUNTER COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
This hunt was a 10 day hunt conducted on horse back. The hunters (four) flew into a base camp and stayed overnite. The next morning each hunter would leave witj jis guide with 4 or more pack horses. This outfitter has approvimately 10,000 square miles. Each year he rotates his hunting area. The area we hunted in had nor been hunted in the last four years. The hunting was done from spike camps. For the first 5 days we concentrated on sheep hutning. During those days we spotted in excess of 50 sheep. We were extremely limited because of heavy smoke in the area. We did spot some small rams but not a trophy. I am sure with better visibility we would have been successful on a good ram. After five days we started hunting for moose and caribou. There was plenty of game and the guide worked hard in order for me to be successful. I would definitely return to go back for sheep.
