Hunted kudu at another concession. All the game appeared healthy and suitably wary. Stalks were challenging but generally successful.

Luggage missed connection to WDH and arrived the next day but was opened and damaged with items stolen totalling $150. Return flights were also late and of mediocre quality. No response after three tries from SAA Customer Service.

SUMMARY REMARKS

Problems of Hunt: Bush fires, first in nearly 40 years and very rare caused by especially high rains in the spring, caused some disruption but in the end were not a problem. They added in fact to the "educational experience" of hunting and living in Namibia. Highlights of Hunt: I took a gemsbok, eland and kudu in one day which was uncommon to do. The eland hunt was especially challenging as we were surrounded by herds of springbuck, wildebeest and zebras with "many eyes" and was challenging to pick out the oldest, largest bull. Equipment Recommendations: Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? Brian and Ina Miller are absolutely first rate. We felt very much at home. Accommodations are very nice, hunting was challenging and his farm is large. Some of it is fenced, mostly low which is common in Namibia but I did not feel that the fences caused problems or were used to our advantages. An excellent plains game hunt and would be especially suitable for first time safari. Shots averaged anywhere from 100-300 yards but wind sometimes made it challenging. Very efficient handling of trophies and meat. I did not bring any trophies home. Available for more details if contacted by email.

We met Brian and Ina at the 2006 Dallas SCI meeting where they have a booth. Observer/spouse rate is 10 days @ $150 = $1500 Took: Kudu, 2 gemsbok, 2 springbuck, 2 warthogs, blue wildebeest, zebra, 2 red hartebeest, eland Accommodations were very nice in a guest house with great beds, nice bath facilities with hot shower and a beautiful deck overlooking the bushveld. Food was beautifully prepared by Ina generally game meat prepared in a variety of ways, salad and vegetable, dessert and South African wines served family style with Brian and Ina and family members. My wife accompanied me and was very happy with all the accommodations and hunting. Trackers and skinners were extremely capable and knew the farm and the game well. Very hard working staff. Post hunt we spent another 9 days self driving and sightseeing in northern and western Namibia.

SUMMARY REMARKS

Problems of Hunt: The only problem was that we did not stay long enough. Highlights of Hunt: Spending 12 days with my wife and son with truly wonderful people. My son took a blesbok that scored #3 all-time in Namibia and may rank as high as #10 SCI after drying. I also took a kudu that was just shy of 59". It was a fabulous first experience is Africa, pursuing awesome animals under fair-chase conditions. Unbelievable memories. Equipment Recommendations: Wide-brimmed hat, lots of sunscreen. Also, a flat-shooting rifle. My shots averaged just over 240 yards. (Measured with rangefinder). The shortest was 210 yards. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? The Millers are fabulous people. The food is wonderful. The animals are outstanding. The landscape is beautiful. The weather was great. The hunting was awesome. That's about all I can think of.

This was my first hunt in Africa, so I can't make any comparisons, but I can make a few observations. This was a first-class experience. We are going back in 2004. My wife didn't even want to go along, now she can't wait to go back.
