SUMMARY REMARKS

Problems of Hunt: Self induced, did not bring spare scope and proper clothing for Khomas Mountain region. It all went by too fast. Highlights of Hunt: Every day, waking up in Africa, seeing all the wildlife and the awesome countyside of Namibia. Seeing and taking of trophy size animals. Spending time with our PH and his wife. Equipment Recommendations: Bring spare rifle scope, bird hunting pants or chaps and leather boots for the Khomas Mountain region. Be very proficient with your shooting abilities to over 300 yards. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? Lots of good game and great PH Johan Kotze and his wife Mabel the camp cook. You get to see more than one region of Nabibia.

SUMMARY REMARKS

Problems of Hunt: The time went by way too fast. Highlights of Hunt: Hunting on the red sands of the Kalahari. Seeing so many near 40 and 40 plus gemsbok, springbok running everywhere. Desert hunting is a style in and of itself - what a ride, what a rush. Equipment Recommendations: Rangefinder, scope with TDS type reticle was helpful as some shots were over 300 yards. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? Great action packed bang for your buck - great trip for father/son. Spending a few days in the Kalahari environment was a new and exciting experience. Todd at TJ Safari Company took care of all the details. Entire experience was smooth. We will certainly do this one again some day.

What a trip! Hunting in the desert is a unique and exciting experience. Its amazing that the animals can survive in this environment. Not only do they survive; they flourish! Johan and Mable run a first class operation. The new lodge is spacious, comfortable, clean as a whistle and these folks make you feel right at home. Its clearly the Ritz Carlton of the Kalahari. My son Bradley and I booked the management hunt plus 4 days of trophy hunting. When Todd told me the management critters would be as good as any trophy we have taken to date I thought he was just pulling my leg. He wasn't! HUGE gemsbok and huge springbok and PLENTY of both. After completing the management portion we transfered up north to the Khomas Mountains and this area was just as exciting as the dunes of the desert. This was a fun hunt. Not strenuous. Lots of action. The majority of the 9 days we were there were spent laughing and smiling. This one is a 10!!

Problems of Hunt: Highlights of Hunt: This was a cull type we were required to cull 12 springbok and six gemsbok. The culling operation required one 10-hour day for springbok and one 10 hour day for gemsbok. Equipment Recommendations: Sunscreen, 300 mag, big hat, good glass 10 or 12X. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? This hunt with these people is a graduation course in ethical management. It is also a great hunt for first time hunters, such as my daughter.

Steenbok - Availability: Abundant - Trophy Size: 5 inches. Zebra - Availability: Abundant - Trophy Size: Beuatiful adult male. Baboon - Availability: Abundant - Trophy Size: 80 pound old male. Game Sought But Not Taken: Duiker - Availability: No good males. Wildebeest, Blue - Availability: Antelope, Klipspringer - Availability: Varmint - Availability: Jackal. Game Condition Comments: Gemsbok, springbok, steenbok and zebra were everywhere. He has some Livington/Cape eland hybrids coming along. Some long horned bulls but not mature. Kudu averaged 49-50 inches. Baboons everywhere. Red hartebeest and blesbok are good. A few duikers but nothing exceptional. Some good klipspringer.

Problems of Hunt: I had a problem with the rental rifle. I also had tick fever, so watch out for the little bastards. Highlights of Hunt: A big male baboon at 350 yards uphill one shot. Equipment Recommendations: The thornbrush in the Khomas mountains will bleed you to death. I recommend upland clothing with briar proof material for that portion of the hunt. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? This is a good beginner hunt, at a reasonable cost. You will see a lot of Namibia on this hunt.
