We had to move camp in a hurry one day and left a few guys behind. We didn't have a cook for that evening, so Richard flew his wife out to cook for us. just goes to show they care about their business and the success of future business

Problems of Hunt: Bad weather kept us in camp for 1.5 days. Then bad weather kept us 1 day getting out of camp. Also, communication regarding whether we'd be flying or not wasn't so great. Highlights of Hunt: Massive amounts of caribou! Excellent camps and Richard Hume worked VERY HARD for all his hunters! Good marks from me across the board! Equipment Recommendations: Good Binocs, rain gear, pack frame, waterproof boots. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? yes Why? This was an excellent hunt with lots of game present. Other outfitters did not see a caribou for weeks on end, yet Richard Hume's hunters saw thousands! He put us in camps that had caribou migrating.

This could be the last year (2011) that the province of Quebec has a caribou hunt. It was undecided until the last minute whether there would be hunting at all. The province of Labrador did close their caribou hunting season. Richard Hume did an excellent job for us!! All his hunters during our week of hunting tagged out. Same for his hunters the week before. In one week our 2 camps saw a total of 7,000 caribou. Richard knew where the caribou were moving and put us into those camps. Unlike other outfitters, who had miserable success, because they went to their home camps and did not move hunters, Richard scouted out the herds before, and flew us into camps nearby. This was the mark of an excellent businessman! Overall high marks. Hopefully, Quebec will have a caribou hunting season next year (2012).

With the declining caribou populations, those wishing to hunt caribou are advised to do it soon! Jack Hume Adventures is a first rate outfit, and they work very hard to facilitate a successful hunt and to provide a rewarding camp experience. Unfortunately, we missed the migration by only a week or so - we were in their northern-most camp (only about 20 miles from the Leaf River), and the migration was 30-40 miles north of us as we wrapped up. Even so, there were sufficient caribou "hanging around" to assure a successful hunt if the hunters work for it. The camp was comfortable and dry, even for the day that we had 80+ km winds and driving rain (the weather is going to be whatever it is going to be), the food was excellent, and the camp staff even better than that. This hunt met or exceeded all of our expectations, and that's a credit to Richard and Amanda of JHA.

Listening to camp radio chatter in the evening indicated other camps were not doing as well. But that's caribou hunting. Black bear is also available. Our party saw three, but no one purchased a bear permit. Good game condition. All animals taken were fat and healthy appearing.
