Problems of Hunt: None Highlights of Hunt: We arrived at the hunting lodge, originally constructed in 1554, located in the beautiful Austrian mountains. I met with Eva and my PH (Martin) to discuss the hunt including my physical ability and my goal for trophy size. Martin had pre-scouted game (all free-range) and with the August heat suggested we hunt in high mountain meadows. They have hunting blinds from high mountain meadows to lower meadow blinds accessible by truck to accommodate all types of hunters. On the first evening hunt we saw 5-6 Red Stags, 8-10 Roe Deer and 4-5 Chamois but not the trophy Stag I was looking to harvest. On the morning of the second day we hunted the lower meadow where we spotted and I shot my Stag. On our way back from hunting area Martin spotted 3 Mouflon Rams and we put a plan together to go back that evening for a spot and stalk. I shot a trophy Mouflon on the evening hunt. The Hunt-Austria team took care of everything after I harvested my trophies from, cleaning, trophy preparation, shipment to taxidermist/veterinarian, and shipping to US. Equipment Recommendations: Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? yes Why? I would highly recommend Eva, Martin and the Hunt-Austria team for anyone who enjoys the history/scenery of Europe/Austria and the 100s of years of hunting traditions and heritage. The guides, accommodations and food were 5 star. This ranks as one of the best hunts in my 35 years of hunting.

Problems of Hunt: None Highlights of Hunt: This hunt was a gift from my wife- -our guide, Rudy, was unbelievably patient and accommodating as she accompanied us up into the mountains on all hunts and was sitting right next to be in the blind when I made the kill! No need at all to tell her about the hunts!!! Equipment Recommendations: First and foremost- -to have the whole European hunting experience, hunting clothing consistent with European custom, good binoculars and hiking boots. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? yes Why? This was truly a "Hunt of a Lifetime". Eva, her staff and our guide attended to our every need- -without asking. The hotel/lodge is truly 5-star, and the meals are without compare!

The hunts are strictly free-range and the number of opportunities for harvesting a great Red Stag was very satisfactory. I could have gone to other countries for a Red Stag- -even hunted for one here in the Hill Country of Texas- -but I have hunted in Germany when I was stationed there with the U.S.Army and came to like and respect the European hunting customs, and Eva and her guide staff perpetuate these customs with their hunters like the ceremony of the "schutzen bruch", the shooter's branch, and the "letzer bissen", the last bite. Wearing traditional European hunting clothing- -loden green or brown with an appropriate hunting hat- -brings the hunter totally into the European hunting experience. After the successful hunt, Eva took my wife for an Austrian experience of her own- - flyfishing.
