Problems of Hunt: I wanted to shoot a younger/bigger full curl ram earlier in the hunt and was told not to. Highlights of Hunt: Being in the NWT in sheep country. Incredible camp. Lots of rams, great people, hard hunting. The outfitter had 100% success again this year on Dall sheep. Equipment Recommendations: Mendl hiking boots, good light raingear (Cabelas MT50), water hydration system in backpack. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? The outfitter was great. Camp and equipment were in very good shape. Everything was well organized. The outfitter only hunts each sheep camp with one person once a year, lots of sheep. Past success is almost 100% for past 10 years on Dall sheep.

We hunted with rifles on this hunt. I saw anywhere between 5 and 20 rams a day. My only concern was that I had to pass on numerous full curl rams, some probably 38" as the guide was instructed to not shoot anything younger than 8.5 years old. After 6 days of hunting, I finally convinced the guide that "you can't hunt for something that doesn't exist" as we were seeing numerous 7.5 year old rams. The 7.5-year-old rams we were passing on were a trophy in almost anyone's book - full curls. Especially for someone who will probably only make one sheep hunt in his lifetime! On day 7, the 7.5 year olds were now fair game. I ended up shooting a broomed 10.5 year old on the 8th day. I would not hesitate to hunt with Gana River again. I wouldn't mind a free report in exchange for my submission, especially since I go on a hunt once per year.

Major Game Animals Taken: Game Sought But Not Taken: Sheep, Dall - Availability: Weather, poor health. Game Condition Comments: Absolutely wonderful trip! Six other hunters all got nice rams in 36-inch to 40-inch class. Sheep were high, due to hot weather and unusual mosquito crop.
