Major Game Animals Taken: Moose, Shiras - Availability: Abundant - Trophy Size: 51 1/2 inch bull. Game Sought But Not Taken: Deer, Mule - Availability: Numbers are down, no trophy bucks were seen. Game Condition Comments: Excellent area for moose. Mine was taken with a muzzleloader. I saw 5 other bull in the group that I shot mine out of.

Problems of Hunt: None. Highlights of Hunt: We scouted for 2 days prior to the season. We saw bulls everyday. Mike really knows where the concentrations of moose are. Equipment Recommendations: Any short-range weapon would be appropriate. I shot mine with a muzzleloader at 147 yards but could have stalked much closed. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Game Sought But Not Taken: Game Condition Comments: Mike Wakkuri has hunted this area for many years. He feels there has been a distinct downward trend in the numbers of big rams and overall sheep numbers. He is adamant that the reason is predation by wolves who are seen more and more frequently and more abundantly.

Highlights of Hunt: Putting my hands around the horns of my ram after an all day climb to reach him then packing off the mountain at 11:30 p.m. and finally arriving back in camp at 3:30 a.m. Equipment Recommendations: Very light weight, warm sleeping bag. Pack dry shirt, undershirt in backpack to change into after climbing so you don't freeze in sweaty clothing. Also, stiff, waterproof boots. Meindels worked well. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? Mike Wakkuri runs a top notch outfit with great horses, new equipment and great guides who used great optics. He really knows this area like his own backyard, which it is!!

Problems of Hunt: The sheep were harder to find in area 19 than some other rams. Rams single to four each not 20-30. Highlights of Hunt: Excellent family operation. They are very knowledgeable and persistant. Equipment Recommendations: Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? I would recommend this hunt for any species the Wakkuri's hunt (elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope, turkey and bighorn).
