Problems of Hunt: Too short - could have stayed a couple more more weeks just to soak it all in. Highlights of Hunt: Seeing a wolf attempt to catch a Dall sheep. Watching my guide (Matt Dickson) go up and down mountains like they were nothing (wish I was young again). Eating sheep ribs cooked over an open fire in the Yukon mountains. Equipment Recommendations: Good boots - maybe a hard hat and goggles for some of the overgrown horse trails (just kidding - but some of the trails are pretty tough - wrecked a couple of pairs of eyeglasses). Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? High adventure, great people, a real hunt. Dave Dickson hates it if someone shoots a small or young ram - there is a high emphasis on ethical, fair chase, big ram hunting.

Equipment Recommendations: Cabela's Alaska hunter boot by Meindl are a absolute must and make sure they fit correctly. The best Gore Tex rain gear you can buy. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? This is a first class operation with a great base camp, good spike camps and great horses. The guides 1X1 and your wrangler will take care of you and if you are able to climb you will get a ram. I am booked in 2008 for moose they have some monsters.

My Dall sheep hunt is one of my most memorable adventures in my life. I never rode so much on horseback. We rode on the average of 6 to 8 hours a day during our 12-day hunt and by the 12th day, I became a pretty good cowboy and started enjoying it. Riding on horseback was not exactly that much fun but I guess it beat walking. Camping in the true wilderness of the Yukon might not be as comfortable as a tented African Safari hunt, but at the end, I felt it was all worth it especially when my dall sheep was harvested on the eighth day. My outfitter, David, was a hard hunter. Sometimes, we did not get back to camp late till 10:00 pm or 11:00 pm. After I shot my sheep, we kept on looking for moose and black bear. Too bad, I did not get any other trophy except my Dall sheep. This is a fantastic hunt with so much satisfaction at the end. Some hunters believe hunting on horseback, hiking the untouched wild trail and climbing the steep slopes that are sometimes covered with snow and sometimes covered with loose rock is how true hunting should be conducted.
