I shot my first Caribou with the new Winchester XP3 ammo with horrific results. Zero bullet performance. I switched to Noslers, and game over. Weather is always an issue as we lost one day to high seas. Shoshone Wilderness Adventures seems to be an outfitting company that wants to get it right.

Camps is extemely well ran, all equipment is new and in great shape. Warm and comfortable tents. Camp manager Jim did an excellent job of communicating with us on the weather day as to what our potential hunt would be, when we would be able to get out on the lake, etc.

A fantastic hunt with camp accommodations that are as cushy as could be expected. Heated cabins, hot showers, and a washer/dryer on site. Extremely good people - I would have been happy hunting with any of the guides. Hunters should know in advance what they are looking for in a trophy. There are too many animals to not be choosy.

I only had to hunt two days, but saw over 50 bulls.

Problems of Hunt: None. Highlights of Hunt: I shot two trophy bulls in one day. The best will score around 393 B&C. The fishing was incredible. My group consisted of six hunters taking 12 bulls. Equipment Recommendations: Would recommend a light weight spotting scope for judging trophy quality. The boat ride to the hunting area is cold, dress warm. Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? Yes Why? This was my 20th year of guided hunts and absolutely the most enjoyable and well-organized outfitter I've ever hunted with. Viewing the Northern lights was half the trip.

The outfitter's attention to small details makes this a must-do hunt. Your hunting time is not wasted refueling boats or waiting on guides to discuss the day's plans. These things are taken care of each night. When the cooks say breakfast is at 7 am, they don't mean 7:05. If you make this hunt I'd suggest an Inuit guide. Not that the other guides aren't capable, but the Inuit's knowledge of the local flora and fauna added greatly to my hunt. I learned a little of the Inuit language and they learned a little Tex-Mex. One phase that is universal when a big fish pops the lure just before landing him, "Damn it" is the natural response. Good hunting!

Wolverine - Availability: Game Condition Comments: The Central Barren Ground caribou were slowed from their usual migration timing by unseasonably warm weather, however as the snow began to push them down from the Arctic Circle, they came by the thousands. Good quality, lots of animals.

She laughed as she pulled each off to the side, making them unpack their luggage before shipping them out even though in each case the hunters had observed IATA rules regarding packing ammo, etc. She was laughing as she pulled each one out of line, even though by doing so she slowed the hunters so that they were at risk of missing their flights. Cleary PETA's efforts are paying off in Edmonton.

I'm enclosing the first hunt report I've ever submitted, although I've been a subscriber for more than five years. The hunt, for caribou in NWT, was very well done and one I can highly recommend, after twenty years of big-game hunting. The form doesn't tell the whole story, however. The hunt was organized as a group event for members of the Camp Fire Club, of which I understand you used to be a member. Thirteen Camp Fire hunters participated - all but two got two animals, and the other two got one each. But the hunting was only a part of it. The outfitter, Courageous Lake Caribou Camps, reserved the whole camp for our party, and went out of its way to make it a Club experience. Since the daily dispersal of the hunters was by outboard boat along the lakeshore, we were able to all gather at the end of each day in camp to share the day and enjoy the social aspects of the trip. This is pretty unusual in my experience of wilderness hunting, which generally leans more towards isolated spike camps, which are long on nature but short on social life. The camp was very comfortable, with roomy tents, hot showers and great food. The guides were mostly Inuit from the Coppermine area, and were expert and hard working. The weather was brisk, as should be expected, but the tundra was in full fall colors and teeming with life. The fishing, for those who filled out early, was nothing short of spectacular. In short, it was more than a great hunt, it was a great experience, and one we'll talk about at the Prairie Dog for years to come. For those of your readers who want to enjoy a group hunting experience in North America, you can't beat this place.
