This was a short hunt. It was scheduled for five days but I took my ibex on the first afternoon. We glassed ibex from the base of the mountain in the morning and planned a stalk in the afternoon. The mountains were not that high, but it was difficult climbing through thick brush. We saw larger ibex from the bottom but I didn't pass up the first good shot opportunity I had. My family was touring and I chose to take the first good animal I saw rather than hold out for bigger. It was an old ibex, so no disappointment with the animal. I stayed in Antalya with my family in a nice hotel which is why I did not rate the camp or food above as it was not what I considered a normal hunting camp. Antalya is a very nice city to stay in while hunting.

After many back and forth emails and telephone conversations I booked this hunt to Pakistan with Caprinae Safaris for Blanford urial and sind ibex. The hunt was to take place in February 2010. After a 40 hour of flying, layovers and vehicle trips, I finally arrived at our destination. It was a beautiful guest house. We then checked the rifles, and I chose to use one of theirs, which was a Remington .270. It shot good. After a two hour jeep ride, we were in the hunting area. We then had a meeting with the local people; we knew to start looking for the ibex. In two hours, we spotted the one we were after making the stalk to higher ground. We were 300 yards from the ibex. The guides decided not to chance the shot with a borrowed rifle and sent a couple of guides to see if they could move the ibex closer and it worked. The one shot kill was at 150 yards. The animal is 17 years old and 47 and 48 inches head gear. It should score in the top five of the SCI. After arriving back at the guest house my guide Rizo gave me a choice for the next hunt for the Blanford Urial. First I was to back to the same area we hunted, which was not a difficult of an area. But the Blandford urial are not too big there. Or I could go to a different area which was hunted only once or twice a year. The quality of animals should be better. But it is a lot rougher. Without hesitation I chose the rough are in hopes of finding a trophy I would be proud of. So we packed up and moved to a different camp, which was very nice also. The next morning at 5 am we started out. After 3 ½ hours climb, we spotted a few animals in the rocks across the way, but we could not make them out clear enough to make any decisions. After a short wait two ibex came out directly below us. Both were real good! I shot the second one. He looked bigger than the first one. After some of the guides went down the cliff, to get the urial. There was a lot of shouting back and forth. After getting this translated, it seems this was the biggest one they have seen. Then there was a long wait as they bought it up to see if this was fact or fiction! When Rizo put the tape on it, everyone was cheering. It measured 36 x 35 7/8 inches with a 10 inch base. It will be number one in the SCI World Record. Back at camp it was measured time and time again to verify the measurement. I'm glad I made the right choice and harvested a magnificent trophy! I could not be happier with all aspects of this hunt, accommodations, guides and hospitality that was extended to me.
