Dear Hunting Report Just returned from a great 21-day Safari provided by Nathan Askew of Bullet Safaris. The safari was taken in the south central portion of the Selous region in Tanzania. I was fortunate to take an old fully-maned lion and a 6 foot 10 inch leopard. Nathan's concession is loaded with leopard. Every bait hung had leopard activity within 36 hours. We had leopards eating our lion baits and lions stealing our leopard baits. I spent 14 unsuccessful days on an ealier attempt at taking a leopard, so I truly appreciated the high population of cats in this concession. Anyone wanting to take a mature trophy tom leopard, this is the place. Also shot hyena, wildebeest, hartebeest, zebra, waterbuck, big bull hippo, warthog and impala. Had four different opportunities to take cape buffalo, but mature were in large herds and shielded by cows or smaller bulls. The camp was well run, with the trucks ready to roll at 5:30 every morning. Each tent had a private shower and flush toilet. The food was good. The one great advantage of hunting with Nathan, is he is an American, with ten  years experience hunting dangerous game in five different countries of East and South Africa. He has done it all. He can hang a leopard bait, build a machan and run a camp with the best of them. His trackers and drivers respect his ability to do everything they do. Being able to freely communicate with your professional hunter before and during the hunt, makes Nathan's hunts truly unique. Problems of Hunt: I really had no problems with the hunt at all. Lots of animals and I just wish I had purchased a license that would have allowed me to hunt elephant and leopard. Highlights of Hunt: Harvested a great buffalo and saw some beautiful country. Animals were everywhere each day. Equipment Recommendations: Just take good binoculars. This was my third safari with Nathan and I will not hunt without him in Africa. He is over prepared and over attentive to his clients. No detail is overlooked and this goes from washing the vehicles to setting the table for dinner to making sure we do not run out of water. This even is evident when we are tracking animals and skinning them. He is just very hands on all the time including after you leave with his ability to get your trophies home.

In taking a trip with no first hand knowledge of what would occur, I was most pleased with all aspects. PH (Nathan Askew) was "top notch" in all aspects of service and hunting skills and had excellent tracker. Acommodations far exceeded expectations, great hospitality and excellent food from brothers James and Gene Hill. Choices of hunt included kudu, wart hogs, impalas, nyala, water buck, bush buck, red/black hartebeeste. The kudu were coming out of the rut and had lost some body weight but overall, all of the trophies were hard to hunt and in good physical condition.

This was possibly the best experince of my life. The troublesome details of the trip were handled by a travel agent referred to me by my PH, Nathan Askew. They provided me with a simple step by step approach to the paperwork and other complex issues. We were fortunate to take lots of good trophies and see an amazing amount of game and other wildlife. My only regret is not taking more pictures or videos. The food was amazing. The staff was incredible. Everyone always asks me if it was the trip of a lifetime, to which I respond that it is the start of a lifetime of trips.
