This year was very thick bush due to a little cold weather. Trees were still green and foilage had yet to fall off. Hunting was tough with long daily tracking. But saw lots of game. Many elephants, impala, waterbuck, buffalo and more. |

Excellent area lots of game. Rough terrain and the jess is very thick but the camp and the staff is well prepared and eager to hunt. Game was plentiful and in good condition. Excellent area to hunt in but not for a beginner. |

No real problems to speak of. Hippo hunting is difficult given they mostly live is the river and current in very swift so trophy recovery is hard. |

Long stalks on buffalo in very close quarters. Lions in easy position for excellent photos. Seeing a magnificent sable bull. |

Recommendations: |
Be in good physical shape as days are long and the terrain is hilly and mountainous. Bring a big gun that you can shoot well. Low power scope. |

I had no problems with Zimbabwe at all. The airport and customs people were all helpful and very anxious to please. I go through customs and out in under 5 minutes. Harare is a mess with many people on the streets but everyone seems to be adapting and getting on with life. The Chewore area is simply full of game. We saw leopard, lion, buffalo and several 40 pound plus bull elephant. Crocodiles are very common. Tiger fishing is also available when you are done hunting. I will go there again without hesitation. Mitch Bunce and his crew worked very hard to please. The camp was five star with private chalets with shower and toilets. The food was excellent as was all the camp staff. The skinning shed was modern and very organized. Simply an excellent hunt I personally was very pleased.

I am enclosing my hunt report for a recent 14-day safari with Big Five Safaris, in Chewore, Zimbabwe.
As you will see, the hunt was excellent. We went ahead with our hunt with Big Five because I knew from a previous visit to Chewore that this concession is very remote, far from any towns (it is a million acres, with no population other than the camp), and is definitely not a ranch hunt subject to the problems prevalent throughout Zimbabwe over the past year.
We opted to spend no time in Harare, stepping off our commercial flight and straight on to Big Five
