Shooting a 30 inch plus bongo on the third day of hunting. The dogs bayed the bongo four times before the size could be determined. Also seeing numbers of lowland gorillas, and watching the pygmy trackers work, who just might be the best trackers anywhere. |

Bongo are abundant as well as blue and peters duiker. Poaching is an ever increasing problem. All of the animals taken by myself and the other hunter in camp had evidence of being caught in snares. A bay duiker taken by the other hunter was missing the lower portion of both front legs from being caught in snares. I would recommend this hunt but I would suggest you do it sooner than later as the poaching only seems to be getting worse. |

Service was fine to Paris. From Paris to Douala was terrible. Rifle was lost despite checking in two hours before the flight departed. Departing Douala was even worse. Airline required 48-hour confirmation of return flight. We gave same and still did not have our names listed as passengers when checking in at airport in Douala even though we had paid for tickets. This caused us to stand in numerous lines behind the ticket counter in the Administration offices with other passengers with various other problems. We managed to make it through this mess in over two hours. Fortunately the flight was delayed due to the airlines ineptness. This caused a problem with connecting flights for my cameraman in Paris. He missed his flight to UK and had to wait in the airport more than half the day waiting for another flight. |

I had no problems with this hunt other than the one missed shot which was my fault. |

of Hunt: |
I hope there is enough room. Numerous sightings and live video footage of silverbacked gorillas. Being in the path of a charging bull elephant only to have him turn and run by us at less than 9 yards. Almost being run over by a fleeing female bongo. I could have touched her as she ran by. Getting over nine minutes of live video footage of a bongo bull out in the open in the daylight at less than 50 yards. Hunting with the best trackers on earth (Pygmies). They are truly remarkable and seem to have a sixth sense when tracking an animal. And more. |

Comfortable shoes, head net. Be as prepared as you can for the humidity. 90-95 percent all of the time. |

Lance Ayliffe is an outstanding hunter. He will never give up on trying. He has a great area with plenty of game. His camp was more than comfortable considering the location in the rain forest. The food was as good as I've had in any hunting camp and would rival many restaurants. I would even consider going back just to hunt the Sitatunga and more Duikers. I have booked another hunt with Lance in the northern area of Cameroon to hunt Lord Derby eland. In 2000 Lance was awarded the Dallas Safari Club International Professional Hunter of the year award and continues to operate to that high standard. Best trackers in the world. Everyone of his staff did an excellent job in making out hunt successful and enjoyable, from airport meet and greet to the departure. |

I hunted with Lance Ayliffe and returned about two weeks ago. He is opening skidder roads rapidly as this is his first year. We took two bongo and two forest sitatunga. The loggers moved out of the area several years ago and the grass along side the roads (non-indigenous) is growing like crazy. Apparently brought in by log trucks. Bongo love it and were thriving in the cut areas with this grass undergrowth. Very good bongo signs and I saw only 1/3 of the total concession.
We hunted every day. Lance is an excellent professional and honest hardworking. The camp is very good and off the ground with private facilities and food with French trained cook.
He has an anti-poaching crew that will be in camp all year round with vehicles. Recommend highly. He has seven permits for bongo annually and has the area for five years. Faro West has two permits for same area and camp.
