Nothing material -- Did need to have clear understanding of what was free range vs. estate (high fence). --Firearm permitting in Argentina is relatively simple; however, it can be very time consuming at the Argentine airports and requires a fair bit of patience. |

Seeing the magnificant stags roaring in the pre-dawn light whilst riding horseback to the hunting areas. -- Taking my Gold Medal stag -- Taking the mouflon after seeing him close on two occasions and then tracking him for several miles and hours on the last day! -- Learning of and seeing the extensive and sophisticated stag breeding and management program at Algar. |

My guide spoke no English and I speak no Argentine Spanish but we had Zero problems, got my game and had a great time. I think he could understand some English but was probably as shy about speaking it as I would be about Spanish. There are some things hunters just know a guide is telling them and guides know a hunter is asking them. I'd hunt with Tito any time he worked hard for me. The others in "camp" were all Americans and many in the lodge staff spoke English or understood and satisfied any desire. Great place.

This is a great vacation as well as hunt. The only problem is that my wife and infant son could not come along. I went on this hunt the first week of March in 2007. The roar was just beginning but there were still plenty of stag on the ranch. I understand from both the Ranch and references that as winter approaches and the roar progresses that more stag continue to show up. You have the opportunity to hunt free range stag here but they also have 2 very large enclosures for estate hunting if you would rather. The lodge, food, and the personnel are outstanding. This is a great hunt to take family members on. Be sure to spend at least one day in Bariloche and at least one day in Buenos Aires. This is a very fun hunt to go on but it is not simple or easy. Although you should see stag to hunt each day, taking one is quite a bit more challenging than it first appears. I highly recommend this hunt. The owners were there at the ranch the entire time of my stay and they could not have been more hospitable. Dr. Tomas Dobie is the veterinarian on the ranch and is a very interesting person to visit with as well as just a good person to be around. Algar will have someone to meet you at each airport in Argentina and they help you through customs. Traveling to and through Argentina was as easy as it could be.
