Atcheson recommended this guy highly and he actually had decent references. However, on MY hunt the guide was seriously lacking in professionalism, enthusiasm, and his ability to "guide" a hunter. The first attempt on what I was told was a 8 foot cubless sow, we made a perfect stalk and I had the bear in my sights at 80 yards and was told not to shoot. Back in the skiff, upon questioning the legality of the bear the guide confessed it was legal and so I said I wanted to shoot the bear given another opportunity. On the second attempt, the guide basically ran the bear off by not stalking it and simply blundering up on the beach ahead of me taking my shot away. Had I been "guided", I would have had my bear. Atcheson's says it all very unfortunate for me but that's hunting. I most likely will not book another hunt thru Atchesons.
Reply letter from Atchesons
Dennis Pendleton is a client of Keith Atcheson's. Keith has talked to Dennis on his return several times in an attempt to try to resolve the issues at hand. Keith is now in Africa until the middle of July and is out of touch. I know that Keith would want to address this issue directly and give his comments on the situation. Please do not think he is ignoring this matter but he will not be back in the country until July 19, 2006 and would like some time to respond to these allegations.
