Comments: |
Flew first class on mileage. Took over an hour to fill out paperwork both ways and charged $80 each way One paper went in the gun case another one with the ammo and the third one i had to have in my person. People waiting behind us got quite upset. I will never take a firearm on British Air again to Europe. I will rent one there. Only to Africa if hunting dangerous game. |

SUMMARY
REMARKS |
 |
| Problems
of Hunt: |
I would not call it a problem, but my guide said shoot on the Red Deer. On the ground he said 6 kilos. my package was up to 7 kilos. When weighed it was 8.2 kilos. I saw them weigh it. They said it was my decision to shoot or not. Having never hunted red deer before I did not know how to judge size plus it was running after a fight with another stag. It was silver medal CIC 198 pts Overall I did not mind paying the extra money for it is a beautiful trophy. Very massive and wide. Also the hunting days are quite short one to two hours in the morning and the same in the evening except on Red Stag when you get out an hour before daylight and locate one that is roaring and then get in position. The stags will answer a call but will not come to one. You have to sneak in on them which was very exciting. It poured rain the whole time we were hunting stag. three days, which made sneaking in quite easy. |
| Highlights
of Hunt: |
Taking a 100 plus kilo wild boar the last evening of the last day of the hunt 200 yds from the main highway back to the lodge. went out 21 times morning and evening for boar. Jerome said taking a boar would be quite difficult but I did. |
| Equipment
Recommendations: |
Good shooting sticks. Recommend the new Primos "trigger stick" Left mine with my guide, he liked it so much. I ordered a new set and they now have a new model which is 25% lighter. Also lightweight rain gear that is silent and you can carry in your day pack for it does rain in Poland and I mean rain. Did my own caping since I am a taxidermist. They only do European mounts. You would have to have the animal taken to a local taxidermist which would be extra plus they do not know how to do skinning for life size mounts. |

| Why? |
Jerome Knapp did an excellent job of arranging everything. We toured all of Poland everything in the tour package was included except evening meals. All the hotels we stayed had a breakfast buffet where you could eat all you wanted with was enough for my wife and I until dinner time . Have hunted with Jerome five times in the Artic and only failed once on one of his hunts and that was a barren ground grizzly hunt. Quit early because of the guide. Have booked a Czech. Republic hunt for mouflon and sika deer for 2012. |

Again Jerome did an excellent job and that is why I am booking a hunt with him in the Czech. Republic This will be 7 days of hunting in two areas with 5 days of sightseeing. I can not say enough about Jerome and Halina. First hunted with them in 1988. Also this was all free range hunting and I was the only trophy hunter on the 14 day hunt. Had over 150,000 acres of land to hunt and never even saw a fence. Stayed in an 18th century palace. The mouflon hunt was on another property about two hours north of Gola. We went there three afternoons and sat in high seats and never saw a mouflon sheep, even though the guide said that 50 to 60 came in the evening before when he had a Danish hunter in the stand but would not let him shoot because I was hunting the next day. Luck would have it that we did not go back the last evening for that was when I got my wild boar.
