of Hunt: |
Ernie Gaskins and the Rogers Rangers Camp is truly a unique experience. The camp is a log cabin built locally and with beautiful views of the White Mountains and Mount Washington. Ernie and his crew are all local and have tremendous knowledge of their hunting area. First night out my sub-permitte had a 53 inch bull under his stand at about 25 yards for over 30 minutes. So the story goes, when you have a cow tag all you will see are bulls and vice-versa. The mountains are quite rugged in this area and give plenty of opportunity of quality but strenuous still hunting. We arrived about a week after the rut peaked but the bulls were still making lots of noise. Cow hunting proves to be a bit more difficult in that they do not typically come to the call so you will need to sit or walk. All the stands are in very good condition and are safe. If you are lucky enough to draw a tag in Vermont in the Northeast Kingdom area E2, look no further for a high quality guide and lodge to make it a memorable experience. |

| Why? |
Ernie will have the stories to tell in the slack times and I can assure you that these guys are some of the finest around. Truly one of the more memorable hunts even in the face of no trophy. |
