I was hunting with my 11 yr old son, who harvested both animals. Mr. Hill and his staff were very accomodating of my son's interests and made all efforts to make the experience educational and enjoyable for him. Most specifically, Shane spent a great deal of time explaining deer behaviour patterns, stalking techniques, and ethical shot placement with my son. Most of our hunt was spot and stalk (for the Sika and the ram) but the stands were quite comfortable and spacious (and heated). The food was good and the lodge comfortable. The Hill's were gracious and courteous hosts -- Don, his wife Angie, and their son Zack were truly nice people. Don tells me his is opening an exotic-only ranch which I am sure will be as excellent as this one. In general, I am not a great fan of estate hunts but this organization is top notch. The only time I saw the fence was during the entry process -- it was never visible thoroughout the hunt, and played not part in the "funneling" of the animals. The game acted wild and, living in Missouri, the only difference I could tell between Oak Creek and "free range" hunting was the quality of the animals. They were wary and stealthy and this is a true "hunting" experience -- not just a trophy-taking opportunity. I would strongly recommend Don's organization -- and my son and I will return. Finally, I would suggest subscribers request Shane as a guide -- great guy, great guide, fantastic in all respects.
