SERVICE RATINGS (excellent, good, fair or poor)
Quality of Outfit: Excellent Guide/PH Ability: Excellent
Condition of Camp: Excellent Condition of Equipment: Excellent
Quality of Food: Excellent Trophy Care: Excellent
Name of Airline: Lufthansa - South African Air Airline Service: Good
Airline Comments: All carriers left and arrived on time, but being a Star Alliance member and making reservations via United, I found differing policies on check-in and carry-on bag sizes and weight allowances. VERY confusing. In addition, it was difficult to navigate through OR Tambo airport in Johannesburg to catch my SA Air flight to Windhoek. Although I was flying SA Air to Namibia, the terminal handling check-in was the domestic and not the international terminal - rather confusing. Also, assistance from airport personnel in OR Tambo is next to useless.

SUMMARY REMARKS
Problems of Hunt: No problems were encountered during this hunt. Fritz Nolte and his wife Petra ensured everything was organized and superb from my first day to the last. From the conduct of the hunt to the lodging and meals, all exceeded my expectations. Although not the largest of operations in Namibia, the Noltes have extensive experience in all aspects of hunting and come from a family well known in Namibian hunting circles. From the Big 5 to plains game - they've done it all, and know what they're doing.
Highlights of Hunt: There were too many exciting moments, but the greatest highlight was sitting over a recent calf kill at dusk and taking an extremely large leopard that had preyed on livestock for several years. Although anchored with a spine shot, it took another shot at very close range to put it down for good. Being 8 feet away from a snarling leopard is something you never forget!
Equipment Recommendations: Long pants that will protect you from thorns which are everywhere and durable safari shirts that can be both long and short sleeve. Quiet fleece type jacket; it gets COLD in the blinds in early morning and late in the day. Gaiters, and a good hat to keep out the sun.
Would You Recommend This Hunt to a Friend? yes
Why? This is a true fair chase hunt in all aspects. You will not see animals standing around waiting to get shot. They are wild and free, and Fritz Nolte only allows the harvesting of mature, trophy animals. Although most Namibian native species are abundant, you have to work hard to be successful. The Nolte Elite Safaris website emphasizes "quality over quantity" and they mean it. Fritz knows leopard, and if you are prepared to do your home work and spend long hours in the blind you have a good chance at being successful. Fritz can accommodate all kinds of hunters, from rifle to bow, and he can facilitate hunts for the handicapped and those with unique medical challenges. From the Big 5 to bird hunting, he can do it all. The Nolte's treat you like a member of their family and can attend to just about every need you might have. They are exceptional people, well organized, and I recommend them without any reservations.

ADDITIONAL HUNTER COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
This was my first hunt to Namibia, and one of the things that first attracted me to hunting with Fritz Nolte was an article in a 2013 edition of the HUNTiNAMIBIA magazine. In it was an article on "Hunting Dangerous Game in Remote Places" that detailed a buffalo attack in the Bamunu Conservancy. In this attack, a friend of Fritz's was attacked by a wounded buffalo, and if it were not for Fritz putting his life on the line and shooting the buff at point-blank range his friend would surely have been killed. It is this kind of courage and grit than one wants in his PH. Fritz also comes from an old hunting family, his father, Ben Nolte and brother Nick well known in hunting circles, and Fritz himself having been one of the most successful leopard hunters with baits and dogs up to the banning of dog assisted hunts. Established reputation and expertise is also essential when hunting leopard, and when the opportunity arose to hunt leopard and plains game in Namibia, Fritz and his Nolte Elite Safaris was on the top of my list. I could not have made a better choice. The quality of game and the ethical nature of the hunt is exactly what old guys like me who were raised on tales of Selous, Patterson, and Corbett can only dream about - and Fritz makes these dreams come true. I can't wait to go back again!
