Letter from Mr. Broich to Editor Barbara Crown, 8/31/12:
Dear Barbara,
I booked a hunt with Swedish outfitter Magnus Lindström to hunt for European moose, European bison, and reindeer in Sweden. I wired him a deposit in February 2011 on $13,332USD. In March of 2012, he asked that the balance be paid. I then sent him $12,810.24USD, for a grand total of $26,142.72USD. The hunt was to take place at the end of September 2012. When the money was sent, he confirmed receipt and sent me gun permit forms, which I completed and sent back to him for processing. Next thing, he disconnected his phone number and would not respond to our e-mails, and has completely disappeared. He did not obtain the gun permit, nor did he book any of the three hunts or any lodges as promised. Naturally, I had to cancel my first class ticket at an additional huge cost. We have informed the Swedish police department, and while they cannot find him right now, they are working on it. We are trying to get my money back, but nothing so far.
I wonder if he has done this to any other hunters?

Memo from Walter Broich to Editor Barbara Crown, 8/31/2012:
As I mentioned to you, I booked this hunt through Mr. Kurt Weissenbeck from Austria. He is a good friend of mine; we have done many hunts together. I did not send him the money, but sent it directly to Magnus. I have included the two wires sent.
I was going to take this hunt in the Fall of 2011, but because of business reasons, I had to put it off until 2012, and Magnus agreed to this.
My good friend Lars Akerberg, originally from Sweden, was going along as an observer, and he sent Magnus a deposit of $1,000.00, also lost.

Dear Barbara,
The preparation and circumstances regarding Br. Broich's BG hunt have been VERY special, and actually unfortunate in many respects.
Let me make COMPLETELY CLEAR that we don't blame Mr. Broich or the booker involved (Mr. Weissenbeck of HuntEurope). The support, service, communication, etc. has been handled in a pro manner.
The lack of communication (to some extent) has been from me (NH&S) and there is a number of issues/reasons that affected this in a negative way. Those I declared to the booker during the process, but maybe not ALL of it. Well, I have had an illness in the family for about 6 months. My daughter suffers from a blood disease and needs to be under medical treatment from time to time. Luckily, it seems to be under quite good control now. So I have been out of the office and quite sad, worried, frustrated, etc.
Well, I want you to know Mr. Broich will be FULLY REFUNDED for the trip. And hopefully we can find something to make him pleased and satisfied soon again.
