Huge Fires In ArizonaPublished: July - 2002 A heartbreaking development at press time was word reaching us that those huge fires in Arizona both started on the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation. At press time, 60 percent of the total burned area was reservation land. We tried to find out what the impact might be on the famed elk hunts there this fall, but no one was available for comment. A secretary who answered the phone said, "Everyone's out fighting the fire..."
