Well, we now have some feedback. It's from subscriber Tom Van Handel, who raves about the available game at the Hualapai Indian Reservation and provides fellow subscribers with some valuable tips on booking a guide there. He writes: "I haven't hunted sheep with the Hualapais, but I have hunted elk with them for the last three years. First and foremost, I must tell you that the Hualapai have the game. There are lots of big elk there. I have personally seen satellite bulls that would score 340 B & C getting run off by larger bulls with a harem. Last season I took a B & C bull and saw 30 elk taken there that would all score 340 and better.
"From talking to the guides, I am convinced that there are also good sheep there. For these reasons, I think the Hualapai must be commended for what they have accomplished with their wildlife management. It doesn't get any better than what they have.
"That said, their major flaw - and it is a big one - is how they manage their guides. My personal guide, and a few others that my hunting partners have hunted with, are some of the best men I have ever hunted with. Unfortunately, some Hualapai guides are also the worst I have ever seen. In order to get a good guide, you must do your homework here, as you would anywhere else.
