Here are a couple of interesting snippets. Seems two Hunting Report subscribers, Jose Marti and Charles E. Berk, have taken good elephants in Botswana this year. Marti's elephant weighed 64 x 62 pounds, and Berk's weighed 80½ x 69 pounds. Marti took his elephant toward the end of April with Rann Safaris, booking agent Safari Headlands in Madrid (11-34-91-468-6622). "We saw more than 100 bulls per day," he writes. "The abundance of elephants was incredible. We passed over a lot of bulls with 50-pound ivory."
Berk took his elephant in mid-April in NG 47 with Safaris Botswana Bound, PH Graeme Pollock (011-267-663-055), along with a remarkable 43-inch Kalahari gemsbok that should rank quite high in the Safari Club Record Book. We are downloading photos of both of these trophies to our web site, www. huntingreport.com. Click on "Trophy Gallery." Berk reports that the rains were late and rather poor this year in NG 47, but the area was still teeming with elephants. "I saw an average of more than 100 elephants a day," he writes.
