Turning to elk, he says his archery elk hunts went particularly well. In all, he had 30 bowhunters this past year, 95 percent of whom had shooting opportunities at branch-antlered bulls and 65 percent of whom connected. And get this - 16 of the 20 bulls taken qualified for Pope & Young, most with scores over 300 points! Several grossed more than 340 points.... After the archery elk hunts, Jack guided five handicapped rifle hunters, all of whom were successful in taking branch-antlered bulls. His traditional rifle hunters came next, with 37 hunters taking 27 elk for a success rate just under 73 percent. Several of the bulls taken were in the 330-point range. Diamond's elk hunts range in price from $2,400 for a seven-day archery hunt to $2,700 for a seven-day rifle hunt. Those prices assume you can draw a non-resident elk permit. Diamond has landowner permits available, but some of them are quite costly.
