Update On Johan Calitz SafarisPublished: April - 2002 We just learned that the Botswana government has reinstated Johan Calitz' Professional Hunter's License. His license was withheld earlier this year, you may recall, because of an alleged infraction by one of the PHs in his employ. There were never any allegations that Calitz himself did anything wrong in the field. Moreover, his Tourist Safari License, which authorizes him to operate a safari company, was never in jeopardy.
We have a copy of the letter authorizing Calitz to pick up his license. Importantly, it does note that the ministry has not finished its investigation into the alleged infraction of the law that led to his license being withheld in the first place, and that it "reserves the right to cancel Calitz' license if the outcome of the pending court case finds him guilty of an offense." ........(continued) |
