Word reaching us is, the delta area is almost devoid of large elephants. Our advice is to be very careful with claims of large tuskers in that area. Also, it is worth noting that Americans cannot currently import ivory from any part of this country, though an effort is underway to legalize those imports.
Elsewhere in Mozambique, be aware that the vast area along the eastern border of Kruger National Park called Coutada 16 has slipped out of the hunting orbit. Coutada 16, formerly hunted by Cassie De Bruin of Gaza Safaris, was famous primarily for its lions. The area has now been incorporated into what is called Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park. No hunting at all will be allowed in the park.
