Bonnett and Warren hunt several private ranches, providing clients with the advantages of a controlled harvest, low hunter pressure, preferred seasons and guaranteed licenses. These are key ingredients to producing big bulls consistently. Additionally, their clients also get to see a number of elk, something most hunters find appealing.
Bucks & Bulls runs most of its elk hunts on two ranches known to produce record-book bulls. The first ranch is east of Salt Lake City, where hunters stay in comfortable cabins. Clients overnight in Provo prior to the hunt. A shuttle service ($20) is available from the Salt Lake City airport. The other hunt is conducted west of Salt Lake out of an extremely comfortable tent camp. Clients hunting this property overnight in Salt Lake before traveling to camp.
These hunts are both five-day affairs conducted on a 1 x 1 guided basis and priced at $12,500. They start on September 8 and are scheduled through the first week of October to take advantage of the rut. Last season, they killed two bulls scoring over 380 points, as well as three others over 360 points.
In addition to these hunts, Bucks & Bulls is taking clients to a promising new ranch west of Salt Lake. Last year was their first season on this property. Hunters stayed in a newly remodeled cabin complete with showers and other amenities. Here again, clients overnighted in Provo. During the exploratory hunts on this ranch, four hunters succeeded in taking six-point bulls. Although the best bull killed only grossed 336 points, it was more impressive than the score indicates.
