The Hunting Report (THR): Mons. Bernon, what exactly is Club Faune?
Club Faune: Club Faune is a team of mostly French professional hunters and outfitters. Our main office is in Paris, France, from where we manage hunting operations in various parts of Africa, including CAR, Cameroon, Chad, Benin and Tanzania. We have been doing so for 15 years, and we decided only this year to start a hunting operation in France.
THR: Why did you make this move?
Club Faune: Because France is a good country to hunt, especially for big game. There are literally hundreds of places to hunt here, some of which are only an hour from Paris. Others are in the south of France, in the Pyrenees; still more hunting opportunities exist in the central part of the country, where you find the famous Tarn Canyon.
THR: Do you plan to offer hunts for all the major big game animals in France?
Club Faune: Yes, all of the major big game animals: red stag, roebuck, wild boar, mouflon, chamois and fallow deer. We can offer hunts in free-range areas, as well as in large, fenced areas, depending of what the client wants. Hunts are typically conducted by stalking on foot.
THR: What about hunt prices?
Club Faune: Our daily rate is $600, 1 x 1; and $420, 2 x 1. Observers cost $180 per day. These prices are inclusive of bilingual Club Faune guides, organization of hunts, assistance of gamekeepers, luxurious accommodations, transportation during the hunt, meals and wines. As for the trophy........(continued)
