The only way to reach them, he decided, was by air, and (due to the lack of airstrips on these properties) that meant flying in by helicopter. Thus was born Massolo's Helicopter Fly In Hunting Service. Using a chopper, Massolo offers hunts on thousands of acres of landlocked public lands in Monterey, San Benito and Fresno counties, all administered by the Bureau of Land Management.
Due to the difficult access to these properties, you might as well be hunting private land with Massolo. Some of these landlocked parcels literally have never been hunted before. The habitat ranges from oak woodland and oak savanna to dense chaparral brush lands and annual grasslands. Massolo's hunts are a minimum of two days and a maximum of four days - you decide how long you want to be out. The package includes one night's accommodation in his ranch house in Salinas, dinner the night before the hunt and breakfast the next morning. The chopper takes off mid-morning after breakfast with the hunters, food, water and tents. Flights from Salinas to the hunt areas run from 20 minutes to more than an hour. The choppers used are two passenger Robertson R-22s and four passenger R-44s. Massolo takes a minimum of two and a maximum of four hunters.
