Denny Geurink is probably best known to Hunting Report subscribers for his Ukrainian stag hunts. These have produced a high rate of hunter success, with some outstanding trophies at a reasonable cost. Last fall some of his hunters shot gold medal stags scoring 325 - 350 SCI. New this year is a Gold Medal stag hunt, offering a good chance to take an exceptional animal. The hunt is based out of a comfortable forest lodge an hour's drive from Kiev. The stags available here are genetically superior animals that have heretofore been used for breeding. They are being freed up for hunting before their antlers start to decline. Only five hunters will be accepted.
This hunt is scheduled for the latter half of September during the rut, and will cost $7,495, including roundtrip airfare from Chicago. If these hunts provide the quality of animals promised, they will be an extraordinary bargain, as the trophy fee alone for a gold medal stag in Romania, Bulgaria or Hungary could well exceed the total cost of this hunt.
