Assessing Denny Geurink's Hunts In Kamchatka

Denny Geurink is now among the largest outfitters for brown bear in the world. He had 28 hunters on his Kamchatka spring hunts this year, and all 28 filled out. Several bears squared over 10 feet, and many squared over nine. As far as scores go, a number of skulls green-scored at 26 14/16, 27 4/16, 27 8/16, 27 11/16, 28 5/16, and 28 8/16. One green-scored over 29 but couldn't be entered because the hunter inadvertently cracked the skull. Outside of Kamchatka, in the interior of Siberia, Geurink has another 30 hunters booked on various hunts this fall for coastal brown bears and grizzlies. In all, his hunters will shoot over 60 bears this year.
His spring hunts in Kamchatka for next year will be conducted April 21 - 28; April 28 - May 2; and May 5 - 12. Hunters stay in large cabins or tents with comfortable beds, sauna, generator, heat, and well-prepared meals. This hunt costs $9,950, inclusive of roundtrip airfare from Anchorage, local transportation, food, lodging, guides, license and CITES permit, trophy fee, interpreters, and skinning and salting of the hide.
New for next year Geurink, has a fall combo hunt for Kamchatka brown bear and moose from August 18 to September 1 for $13,950. That covers everything the spring bear hunt provides, plus a moose. Bulls generally run 50 to 70 inches here. Hunting is done by spotting and stalking, or by floating streams in boats or rubber rafts. A second bear tag and moose tag are........(continued)
